"Better than expected"

2 nights Arrived 25 Sep 2014
"Betesda was better than we expected - the room was large but very dated, but the communal areas are really great. Nice pool, lovely large dining area, great terraces to enjoy a drink. There are no recommended hiking trails and the scenic sundowner drive wasn't available so it was a very quiet day! Friendly service.

Dinner both nights was just ok, but nothing else available for Vegetarian Husband apart from the salads and vegetables. However, the breakfast pack provided for the early morning start was very good.

It takes about 60 mins to reach Sesriem, then a further 45-60 mins along the tarmac road to the dunes.

One last point is that as we are not religious we had concerns about Betesda being a 'christian' lodge, but I can quite honestly say you would not know, it was just a pleasant place with no overt signs or conversations and a nice welcome for everyone.

Couldn't help feeling that this place could be so much more - great location." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Betesda Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 19 Sep 2010
"The staff were very friendly and eager to please. Because we were unable to get into our requested accommodation near Sesriem this was a reasonable place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Sesriem seeing the amazing dunes with their magnificent colours along the 50k drive to Death Valley and Sossuslvlei.

Afterwards we went back to the Sossulsvlei Lodge which is a place where we would encourage people to stay since being in the Park one would be able to start the drive earlier and it looks a lovely Lodge. Here we also did the Sesriem Canyon walk which was very interesting.

Since we had an onward journey the next day, we feel accommodation nearer Sesriem or the Swakupmund side of Sesriem would be a better bet if unable to get into the Park if this is possible." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

2 nights Arrived 29 Jul 2010
"We absolutely loved Betesda. It had a fantastic feel about it, very relaxed and friendly. Activities if you wanted them. We only did the sundowner trip but it was great - the guide was brilliant. (Website says you can go horseriding but they don't do it any more).

We got caught out with the solar water heating that meant the shower on the first night was cold. The second night we were camping and the showers were great and you still get access to all the facilities." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Very functional.
Solar water heating limited, no hot water from late afternoon!

Would have preferred one night here, and gone on to Rostok directly for two nights after early morning visit to Sossusvlei, rather than back to Betesda." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 1n in South Africa

"Betesda Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 2 Aug 2009
"Not our favourite place but lots of good points. Fantastic view from the bed rooms out the back, food disapointing as a bit like school dinners , though the dinning room was lovely. It was fun to get up early to visit sossusvlei and great to have a packed breakfast. Beware that the hot water runs out if you have a late shower ie after 5pm." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

"Betesda Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2008
"The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. The service by one particular staff is outstanding because he is very attentive to our needs such as getting up very early to make sure that we receive the breakfast boxes and warm drinks before we set off to see the sights nearby.

We enjoyed our stay there because of the peaceful surroundings.

The only downside we experienced is the food. When our holiday was booked, I requested for vegetarian food as part of my dietary requirments. When I asked them about a vegetarian dish as I expected that they are aware of my requirment and prepared one. Instead, they assumed that the alternative dish is fish with which I do eat. The standard is not up to the level that I would liked to have." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
