"Büllsport Disaster"

3 nights Arrived 13 Feb 2014
"This was a very bad experience for us. It was the only place in Namibia where we did not receive a warm welcome when we arrived. In fact, only after some time did someone (a temporary volunteer we heard later) show us our room and the facilities.

I sat next to a man at dinner on the first night who did not direct one question to me: the next day I accosted him and discovered he was indeed Mr. Sauber, the owner, so we had to do our own introductions. We asked for a guide but were told that they had to be 'ordered' a day in advance: we had not been informed of this. When Mrs. Sauber returned 24 hours later, the atmosphere changed, but this was too late for us.

The low walks we were able to do were not all that interesting (very few animals) and we were plagued by flies: the two most interesting walks (for which we needed a guide!) are not suitable for someone with vertigo, like me. It is the low season for Büllsport and we certainly felt as if we were not important.
Our room was one of the new ones and it was good: the older rooms did not look very appealing.

Büllsport is not a place I would send anyone: however IF you are interested in horses or IF you have a head for heights it could be interesting but for a maximum of two days, never three." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"We wish we had stayed for the morning to have a look at the farm in more detail. It took us a couple of days to get used to timing our days and how long driving would take.

Well marked walks. We liked having meals with the family." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Bullsport Guest Farm review"

2 nights Arrived 9 Oct 2013
"Hosts were friendly and helpful. Lovely sitting down to dinner with the family and learning about farming in Namibia from someone so obviously passionate about what they do. The area they farm is extensive with challenging wild life problems so Ernst's views were fascinating.

Excursion to Quiver Tree Gorge with Ernst as guide was brilliant , lots of mountain zebras, kudu, babboons etc.
Also really good walks self guided around the farm and chance to enjoy the lovely location and scenery.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and was an excellent introduction to Namibia." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Surprised"

2 nights Arrived 18 Aug 2013
"I was really sceptical about this one. Read all the good reviews, but just couldn't imagine how this could be great. As with the whole of Namibia, I kept being surprised. You see all the brown scenery and struggle to think what could make this place so magical. Well, it was and I cant explain why.

We followed detailed maps on various walks around the premises. Word of warning - we are very fit and thought that a 6 hour walk would mean 4 - 5. Well, we were wrong. In the heat this is quite another thing. Saw some animals and lush greenery hidden on the long trail.

Food was fantastic and great to eat with the other guests. Spent some time by the pool, but too cold to swim. Breakfast was basic, but nice. I loved our hosts getting immersed in their story telling at night. These are people who live and breathe Namibia and it shows. Rooms was great once again. Large, airy, modern decor.

All in all a wonderful experience." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Bullsport Guest Farm review"

1 night Arrived 6 Aug 2013
"Large, clean and comfortable rooms in location looking up at mountains. Friendly and helpful owners who you eat with at dinner.

Owners run a huge farm which must be challenging so they do well to cope with questions from European 'townies'.

There is quite a lot of wildlife round the guest house and we were disappointed that we were unable to take advantage of the larger hikes into the mountains." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Bullsport Guest Farm review"

1 night Arrived 5 Aug 2013
"As with Damara Mopane, our room & bathroom here were a little dreary! We hadn't realised that there was an option for a nicer room at not much extra cost. Perhaps it wasn't available at the time but I feel it may have been, as not all of the better rooms looked to be occupied, but I could be wrong.

For me, Bullsport only has an interest as a stopover point. I thought the owner of Bullsport wasn't all that friendly, whereas I'd read somewhere that the welcome there was wonderful!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Bullsport Guest Farm review"

3 nights Arrived 24 Jul 2013
"We had a really interesting stay at Bullsport and enjoyed eating en famille with Ernst and Johanna and their staff plus other guests. They serve lots of game and more traditional Namibian dishes which are not necessarily available elsewhere and it was an interesting insight into life at a cattle, game and stud farm.

There are a series of walking trails from the farm and we did several of these, the best being the circular walk through the Quiver Tree gorge which was stunning. Trails were of varying lengths and well marked from the farm." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Sorry not to have stayed longer"

1 night Arrived 11 Jun 2013
"We stayed only one night at Bullsport, as a stopover between Windhoek and Sesriem, but wished we had stayed longer. We arrived in early afternoon, in time to take one of the self-guided walks on the farm, strolling until sundown under a wide clear blue sky watching springbok and kudu, weaver birds and guinea fowl.

Our "luxury" room was spacious and bright, with a big bathroom, good shower, and separate toilet. There were eight of us sitting down for dinner around the large farmhouse table, our friendly host Ernst Sauber, three of his family and staff, two other guests, and ourselves, the only two with English as their first language. Despite that, we were never left out of the conversation, and indeed, hearing what our fellow guests had done during their two-night stay, we decided to take a trip next morning to a rock-arch in the mountains.

So after a hearty breakfast we set off with our guide, David, in an open-sded 4x4, well wrapped up in hat, fleece and gloves. After a short drive along the road he headed for the hills up a steep twisting stoney track. Along the way David pointed out mountain zebra and stopped to show us various plants and bushes, explaining their nutritional and medicinal properties. Stopping at the top, we were led along a "zebra trail" down into a gorge from which there was a short scramble to the impressive rock-arch. The drive back down the mountain was, let's say, exhilarating, and we were in awe at David's off-road driving skills as well as his knowledge of the plants and animals.

We wished we had stopped another day to do more walking in the mountains, and would certainly recommend Bullsport, not just as a stopover on the way to Sesriem, but as a destination in its own right." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
