Second stay at Central Guest House

We were checked in by a miserable lady and allocated room had double bed when we requested twin beds.

I asked if they had a twin room which they did and it was no problem for them to change rooms for us. Breakfast was good. It is a good choice for a one night stay, centrally located for walk into Swakopmund. One suggestion you do need to book reservation in restaurant for evening meal once you get there.

I think from when we last stayed perhaps the accommodation has changed hands as the lady that checked us in and out was just miserable!

Central Guest House review

This place is very acceptable and the location reasonable to be able to walk around the central part of the town.

The room was nothing particularly special but was clean and served our purpose.

The staff could be a bit more friendly but they did nothing wrong. If I had to stay in this town again, I would have no problem using this guest house.

Central Guest House review

Only stayed one night and ate in a local pub (Kucki's), which was friendly and had very good fish.

Secured parking was very good and the host was helpful. Good central location in Swakopomund.

Good place to stay in Swakopmund

Small room in Central Guest House but use of lounge area. Help from Andrea with restaurant bookings.

Interesting town with a lot of new development. The Kempinski Hotel is now the newly developed Strand Hotel. We ate one night in the restaurant there, the Farmhouse Deli - very attractive and food fine but rather limited menu. Better was the second night at The Tug, with a very big seafood and fish menu.

Our scenic flight, booked with Pleasure Flights (we did the Classic Sossusvlei one, which also encompassed ship wrecks , abandoned diamond mines and seal colonies) was very worthwhile (but of course expensive - $10,660 with one additional person on the flight. I had been called in London to ask if we would agree to another person and to doing the flight in the morning. The cost included pick up and return to Central Guest House and a dvd of the flight)

In great location for Swakopmund city walks

We found the location very good, for exploring Swakopmund. It is a guest house and does what the name suggests - we had a lovely room, very private, the breakfasts both days were very nice; the staff weren't present that much but we did not mind this at all - preferred to be left alone and in any case, we were out most of the time.

We must mention the two highlights of our stay in Swakopmund - firstly, our kayaking trip with Jeanne Meintjies in Walvis Bay Lagoon, seeing thousands of seal, playing with them, rescuing a seal pup, also so much enthusiasm, knowledge and wonderful service from Jeanne. We recommended the trip to two people whom we later met at Desert Rhino Camp, who were going to be a few days later in Swakompund, and they contacted Jeanne and also went kayaking, and both got back to us to say that the activity was absolutely excellent.

The second highlight was our dinner at The Tug by the jetty in Swakopmund - best seafood we have had in a long, long time.

Good, friendly central b&b

Between the two cars we had two punctures and one cracked windscreen to deal with. The guest house was very accommodating about us being in and out during the morning while the cars were being fixed. Nice breakfast - much more generous and tasty than in Windhoek.
