This trip is a variation of a classic Namibian itinerary. Taking in the dunes of Sossusvlei in the south, the costal town of Swakopmund and the prime game viewing of Etosha National Park this trip is well suited to those visiting the country for the first time or who simply want to revisit some old favourites, especially if you haven't got the time for a full Caracal Self-drive style safari.


Day 1

1 night at Hilltop Guesthouse (bed & breakfast) | Windhoek, Namibia

With some truly spectacular views...On arriving into Hosea Kutako International Airport you'll collect your rental car and set off on the easy 45-minute drive to reach Namibia's capital city, Windhoek. This afternoon is your own to spend at leisure recovering from the flight or perhaps exploring the city.

Days 2-3

2 nights at BullsPort Lodge & Farm (half board) | Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia

Bullsport Guest Farm is situated near the Namib Naukluft National Park…After a night in the city you'll start your Namibian adventure and head south-west towards Naukluft Mountains. Your base in this scenic area is Namibia's oldest guest farm, Bullsport. For the next 2 days you'll have the opportunity to explore this beautiful and rugged area on foot, vehicle or, by prior arrangement, horseback.

Days 4-5

2 nights at Desert Homestead (half board) | Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia

Desert Homestead is situated in a stunning location...A relatively short drive takes you to the other of the Namib-Naukluft National Park's namesakes, the Namib Desert. From Desert Homestead you have the opportunity visit the world renowned Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, as well as the lesser known Sesriem Canyon. Guests can do this in their own hire vehicle or join a guided activity from the lodge.

Days 6-7

2 nights at Desert Breeze Lodge (bed & breakfast) | Swakopmund & Walvis Bay, Namibia

Located just outside Swakopmund on the banks of the Swakop River,…Today you turn north passing through the Namib Desert's plains and passes before reaching the costal town of Walvis Bay. This is quite a long drive that you might choose to break with lunch at Rostock Ritz (a 10-20 min detour from the main road). From Walvis Bay you continue north along the cost to your next stop, Swakopmund. During your stay you'll be able to enjoying the restaurants, shops and numerous activities this quirky town has to offer from the relative quiet of Desert Breeze Lodge.

Days 8-9

2 nights at Okaukuejo Camp (bed & breakfast) | Etosha National Park, Namibia

Okaukuejo Camp is found inside the Etosha National Park.Today you head back inland to Namibia's premier game viewing destination, Etosha National Park. Set within the park itself Okaukuejo Camp's waterhole is well established and often frequented by game, this is perhaps the best and most productive waterhole in the park. Guests here usually spend their time exploring the surrounding area in their own vehicle or sitting by the waterhole and seeing what comes to drink. However, there are guided trips on offer here too.

Days 10-11

2 nights at Mushara Lodge (half board) | Etosha National Park, Namibia

Mushara Lodge is smart and welcoming.From Okaukuejo enjoy a full days drive across the park. Travellers tend to set of early and use this as an opportunity to do an extended game to make the most of their time in the park and vehicle. You might choose to have a break from the driving and perhaps a bite to eat at either Halali or Namutoni along the way. Musara Lodge is located just outside the park to the east of the Namutoni Gate and is a great base to explore the park with your own vehicle or with a guide from the lodge.

Days 12-13

2 nights at Okonjima Plains Camp (half board) | Okonjima Nature Reserve , Namibia

Okonjima Plains Camp is located in large private nature reserve, which...From Etosha you head south again to the Okonjima Reserve, home of the Africat Foundation. Spend you time here learning about the foundations work in conservation and how they are working to protect Namibia's predators from human-wildlife conflict. A highlight of any stay is tracking Leopard and/or Cheetah.

Day 14

Today you leave Okonjima early and head back to the Windhoek. If time allows, you may like to stop at Okahandja or Windhoek craft market en-route, ensuring you arrive in Windhoek to drop off your hire car ready for your onward arrangements from Windhoek.
