This great-value self-drive safari combines superb wildlife viewing and spectacular waterways as you journey over a period of 13 days from Namibia to Botswana across the Caprivi Strip before ending at Victoria Falls. From Namibia's capital of Windhoek you'll encounter increasingly verdant landscapes as you head north-east via Etosha National Park and through the Caprivi region, visiting various national parks including Mahango and Bwabwata in Namibia and Chobe in Botswana.


Day 1

1 night at Elegant Guesthouse (bed & breakfast) | Windhoek, Namibia

The Elegant Guesthouse is situated in the residential area of Klein Windhoek.On arrival at Windhoek Airport you collect your hire car and then it's about 45 minutes' drive to the capital city where you'll spend your first night in Namibia. Pass the rest of the day exploring Windhoek at your leisure and relax in the peaceful setting at the welcoming Elegant Guesthouse.

Days 2-3

2 nights at Onguma Tree Top Camp (half board) | Etosha National Park, Namibia

Onguma Tree Top Camp, located right next to a waterhole, is raised up on stilts.Drive through commercial farmland, north of Windhoek and through the rural towns of Okahandja and Otjiwarongo on your way to the eastern side of Etosha National Park- Namibia's premier wildlife destination. Spend a couple of days at Onguma Tree Top Camp on the private Onguma Reserve. As the name suggests the entire camp is raised on stilts amongst the trees. Each tented chalet faces the camp's waterhole, but as well as wildlife watching from camp explore the Onguma Reserve on foot or on a guided game drive or choose head out yourselves or with a guide from camp into Etosha National Park itself.

Day 4

1 night at Hakusembe River Lodge (half board) | Caprivi Strip, Namibia

Hakusembe Lodge is located in Rundu, in Namibia's Caprivi Strip.Head north-east from Etosha towards the Caprivi Strip and start to get a feel for this fertile and prosperous area of Namibia. When you cross the veterinary fence you'll see the local Kavango people working the communal land, tending cattle, cultivating sorghum, millet and maize. They are also excellent woodcarvers, selling their wares at various roadside markets. Spend a night at Hakusembe River Lodge, on the banks of the Kavango River. Glimpse Angola across the river and although, as you are only 12km from the town of Rundu, there isn't a huge amount of wildlife around it is possible to head out on a boat trip or perhaps try your hand at some fishing.

Days 5-6

2 nights at Nunda River Lodge (half board) | Caprivi Strip, Namibia

Nunda River Lodge is situated in Namibia's Caprivi Strip ...Head further east into the Caprivi 'proper', towards the town of Divundu and to Nunda River Lodge, which is also on the banks of the Kavango River and just downstream from Popa Falls, although perhaps Rapids might be a more accurate description. This lodge is well situated for game drives in the Mahango and the Bwabwata National Parks, these are home to varied wildlife, including rare sable and roan antelope, The mixed riverine and woodland habitats attract a wonderful diversity of bird species too. You are able to explore the area independently in your vehicle or join any of the optional guided activities, such as boat cruises, village visits and game drives.

Days 7-8

2 nights at Namushasha Lodge (bed & breakfast) | Caprivi Strip, Namibia

Namushasha Lodge is situated along the bank of the Kwando River.Drive through Bwabwata National Park to its eastern boundary by the tiny town of Kongola where you will stay two nights on an island within the Kwando River floodplains. Your location allows access into Bwabwata National Park and Mudumu National Park we suggest taking advantage of local knowledge by joining a lodge guide on optional guided activities such as game drives, river cruises, nature walks and fishing excursions offered during your stay at the simply designed and friendly Namushasha Lodge.

Days 9-10

2 nights at Garden Lodge (half board) | Chobe National Park, Botswana

Garden Lodge a great stop for self-drive travellers wishing to visit Chobe & Victoria Falls.Heading further east, the route today takes you via the bustling town of Katima Mulilo and then across the Ngoma Border into Botswana. Travel through Chobe National Park to reach Kasane, the main hub for exploring this popular game reserve which is famous for its wildlife and high concentration of elephants. Drop off your luggage at Garden Lodge and then a member of staff will follow you to the car hire office to drop off your vehicle and then give you a lift back. Game drives and boat cruises are on offer whilst staying at the comfortable Garden Lodge and can be paid for locally.

Days 11-12

2 nights at Victoria Falls Hotel (bed & breakfast) | Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Welcome to the Victoria Falls Hotel...From Garden Lodge take a road transfer across the border into Zimbabwe and to the historical Victoria Falls Hotel. Built in 1904 to house engineers and associates working on the construction of the railway. it is decorated in an Edwardian style. Just 5-10 minutes walk from the falls itself it is very conveniently located to explore this UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 13

There's usually time for a leisurely morning before you are transferred to Victoria Falls Airport to connect with your own onward arrangements
