Solar Eclipse 2016 in Mozambique
In September 2016 an annular eclipse will pass straight over the beaches of Mozambique's remote Quirimbas Archipelago. If there was ever an excuse for a decedent beach holiday this is it.
The Quirimbas itself is a string of islands to the north of the country in an area that can be challenging to get to and as a result has stayed firmly off the tourist trail. We have arranged a trip that will combine two total different islands in the area, the historical Ibo Island and the uninhabited private island Quilalea. Read more about our Mozambique Eclipse Beach Holiday.
Once an important Portuguese trading post, but now a sleepy island with a faded sense of grandeur and small fishing community, Ibo Island is fascinating. Wonder through historical ruins of old Portuguese mansions, take in the seaviews from the wall of the eighteenth century fort or just spend the day sunbathing and snorkelling from a sandbank in the middle of the ocean.
Combine the history and culture of Ibo Island with the luxury and exclusivity of Quilalea. Just a short 20-minute boat ride away, the Island of Quilalea is uninhabited but for the luxurious lodge Azura at Quilalea. Enjoy the pristine beaches, the coral reef right offshore, island walks and massages in the spa.
