The bungalows at Pole Pole are all on stilts, with a shaded veranda
Thatched bungalowPole Pole has seven detached thatched bungalows, all of which sit a little way up a hill and look out over the sea. These bungalows look quite rustic from the outside, as if made entirely from palm leaves, but walk up the few steps and enter the rooms, and you'll see that they're rather stylish.
Each bungalow has a spacious double or twin room, with a good-size en-suite bathroom and a private veranda. The rooms have dark wooden floors, and natural wooden support beams showing through white-washed walls, like an old farmhouse. Soft furnishings of bright, billowing fabrics, and hand-woven makuti mats on the floor, help maintain an African character.
As well as large comfortable beds with fans above there is a writing desk and plenty of hanging space for clothes.
Large wooden doors open out onto a small private veranda. With a comfortable day bed, as well as two lounging chairs and a coffee table, this is an idyllic place for a peaceful drink in the evening.
The en-suite bathrooms at Pole Pole also feature dark wood floors and white-washed walls. Hand-carved mirrors sparkle above twin sinks, which are set into a beautiful wooden surface.
There are good hot and cold showers and proper flush toilets. Drinking water is provided, as is soap and some toiletries.
