It is a great base from which to visit the Ngorongoro Crater and also Lake Manyara National Park. Leave early for the Ngorongoro Crater to spend the day on safari in one of Africa’s most remarkable areas. Expect close encounters with big game and sightings of more unusual creatures such as the Kori Bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird. Days 10-12

3 nights at Sayari Camp (full board & activities) | Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania

When you are not out on an activity, Sayari's stunning rock-pool is a great place to relax.Depart Namiri Plains in the morning with a packed lunch and drive deeper into the Serengeti. Few vehicles venture this far north, so you can enjoy real wilderness along the way. Sayari Camp is one of the most northerly camps in the Serengeti – for many its remoteness is its real attraction – and it is only a short drive away from the Mara River. In July-September, the wildebeest migration will usually be passing through this area but throughout the year there is good resident game.
