This high quality Tanzania safari holiday uses a mix of luxury semi-permanent camps and comfortable charming lodges as bases to explore famous areas such as the Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. Travel with your own knowledgeable guide in a private 4WD safari vehicle.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha you'll meet your own private guide and 4WD safari vehicle. Together you drive out of Arusha and into Tanzania's lush countryside. You'll see sights such as Maasai herding their cattle, villagers carrying goods to the market, bustling small towns and well tended farm plots. Stop in to Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its variety of habitats and numerous bird species, this park is also home to a good concentration of wildlife and the alkaline Lake Manyara. Finish your day at the working Gibb’s Farm. You have two full days whilst at Gibb's Farm - one is spent with more time in Manyara whilst the other gives you a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater.
Leave Gibb's Farm early and drive past the Crater rim and on to Serengeti National Park. Here you'll stay in Dunia Camp, one of the smart semi-permanent camps in the southern central Serengeti. Between about February and March this is well located for the great migration. However it is also close to Seronera, which has great resident game throughout the year. With your own private guide you have the flexibility to arrange your days as you wish. Either head out on an all day safari, or enjoy a more leisurely day, with a morning drive, time to relax in camp and then an afternoon drive.
Heading out early in the morning is often best, and you'll game drive slowly towards the more remote northern Serengeti, pausing for a picnic en route. You'll pass through a variety of landscapes, each home to different wildlife which your knowledgeable guide will point interpret for you. After a full day of game driving, you will arrive at Sayari Mara Camp - a stunning camp a short drive from the Mara River. From August to October this is a great spot to watch the herds of wildebeest making river crossings – an astonishing sight.
Drive to a nearby airstrip and catch a light aircraft flight back to Arusha. From here, if you want to add some time to relax, continue on to one of our beach trips in Zanzibar, Pemba, Ras Kutani or the Mafia Archipelago. Or connect with your own onward arrangements from Kilimanjaro Airport.
