The meandering Rufiji River lies at the heart of Nyerere National Park

It forms a complex network of channels, lakes and swamps.

It is a great place for game viewing...

...as well as admiring the beautiful scenery.

Wild dogs can be spotted...

...and also herds of elephant.

Nyerere National Park also has an extraordinary birdlife...

...with over 440 species.

...and elephants as they come down to the river.

Nyerere National Park is worth a visit.

"wonderful holiday"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 14 Oct 2010 and 27 Oct 2010
"Everything went like clockwork. Places were as described or better It really was a perfect holiday.

Impressed how the staff Liz and Claire put up with all the initial date changes and put together aholiday that suited us perfectly Ruaha gave us a wave of wildlife and an authentic experience which was wonderful, Sand Rivers was luxury but stunning experiences and lovely company.

I don't understand why there aren't more people at Kwihala as it was so great I can only encourage you to talk about it more to clients because if we could like it as much only differently as Sand Rivers then I think others would too and there is so much wildlife there and no other jeeps, its a special place, abit more company in the evening would have nade it perfect.

Thank you we will be back to talk about Namibia next year

"Southern Tanzania safari"

I visited Tanzania between 12 Oct 2010 and 27 Oct 2010
"We were very happy with most of our safari, Lake Manze camp excepted, and very happy with how Claire from Expert Africa helped us decide on places to go and the general organisation of the trip. Everything 'happened' as arranged and expected and that is not always the case in Africa so full marks to Expert Africa.
As seasoned African safari goers the Southern Tanzanian circuit was new to us but met our expectations with excellent game, wonderful bird life and beautiful locations in Ruaha and Selous.
If there was any blot it would be that being close to beach resorts means that you get a number of first time safari goers whose interest is superficial and where the safari is bolted on as some sort of exotic extra to a beach trip that is the tourist's main interest and some of the camps cater to this level of tourism. Selous tourism has evidently expanded in recent years and we fear that this will lead to safari tourism in the way some Northern Tanzanian (Ngorongoro) and Southern Kenyan (Mara) areas cater for" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Tanzania safari

"southern safari"

I visited Tanzania between 25 Sep 2010 and 8 Oct 2010
"Going to Ruaha first was better in terms of internal flights (especially for someone who gets travel sick). If we had realised how far away Jongomero was from the plains in Ruaha, we would have done two camps here instead of in the Selous (as these are all close together). This meant that we did not get a chance to see cheetah, which I had specifically enquired about. This in addition to our experience at Selous Impala camp, slightly marred our experience, but in general, it was as we expected.

There were no night drives in the Selous, contrary to what I was told.

There is apparently now an early morning flight to Dar from Selous which connects to the BA flight, obviating the need for an overnight stay in Sar.

"Brilliant!"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 23 Sep 2010 and 9 Oct 2010
"What we loved about the trip was the variety of locations, living arrangements and geography. It was a nicely mixed bag. The entire trip was seamless. We never had to worry . Someone else was in charge and we transitioned from plane to plane, camp to camp, etc. without a worry. It was brilliant and you will be dealing with us in the future as we are hooked on Africa.

The only downside to the entire trip was Lake Manyara. After the solitude of Selous, it was a culture shock and something we could have taken a big miss on. The Ngogoro Crater was also difficult with its traffic jams but the crater more than made up for that. In the future we will steer clear of "busy" spots because they simply aren't our thing.

I really cannot think of a thing. Claire Scott did a fabulous job and we will recommend her and Expert Africa to our friends in the US. Sadly, people in the US do not travel nearly enough and can't be counted on for much business." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"First Safari"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 23 Sep 2010 and 8 Oct 2010
"We went on this holiday with very high expectations. In all cases those expectations were met and were generally exceeded. The information we received from Expert Africa was accurate and timely. We will use you again, and recommend you to our friends.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

We got such good personal advice from Ellie that we hardly looked at the promotional literature. The information pack was excellent and dealt with everything we needed to know.

just one point about Zanzibar. We were recommended to take US$. in fact this was unnecessary. The shops and hotel were all just as happy with the local currency and applying the exchange rates they were quoting, paying in US$ was an expensive option. The museums were all happy with local currency too and there was no saving involved in paying in US$. Please review this recommendation." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari
