"Selenkay Adventure Camp review"
Tent basic, as per expectations, but fine and clean. Getting up ready for early morning start a bit tricky in the dark - perhaps we could have done with a bit more light or perhaps learned to switch off solar lamp at night to conserve electricity.
As you warned, Kenya, despite being on the equator, can be chilly. It certainly was. Brilliant that both camps provided heavy Maasi ponchos in the cars - clearly they know that a lot of tourists come lacking sufficient warm layers." See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya
"We had a truly fabulous time at Selankey. "
We didn't really know what to expect from the conservancy especially as it was a long drive from Amboseli National Park but we needn't have worried. Our driver Daniel and his assistant Joshua were experts at tracking, knowledgable and friendly. We saw lions and elephants every day as well as dozens of antelopes, warthogs, zebra, buffalo ..., the list goes on.
The first morning in Amboseli after we got off the flight was so exciting - especially for our teenagers for whom this was their first safari. After that we stayed in the conservancy but did something different each day. Being in the conservancy meant that we rarely saw other vehicles and were able to go off track in order to search for animals. Daniel was an excellent driver and managed to take us to all sorts of places.
The camp was very comfortable and it was beautiful waking up in the morning to see zebra wandering past. The camp staff were very friendly with many of them speaking good English. The food was superb whether it was a picnic breakfast out in the bush or dinner in the camp in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk with the camp staff and the visit to the Masaii village - a real eye opener.
A fabulous start to the holiday." See all these reviews: 14n in Kenya

"Loved Selenkay and the staff"
Meals were delicious - a nice variety, excellent soups, fresh vegetables and fruit. They did a fantastic job providing gluten-free for one of our group. We appreciated the coffee and tea and snacks on our game drives.
It was the staff that made this camp really special. Our time around the campfire at night was enlightening. They were willing to answer so many questions and we appreciated them wanting to ask us some too! Our guides Daniel and Jackson were knowledgeable but more importantly fun. They were patient when waiting for us to take lot of pictures and made sure we had the best views. We had the reputation as the "lucky Americans" around the camp because of what we were able to see, but it was all because of them.
We also really enjoyed the fellow guests - all interesting, well-traveled and fun. Great dinners discussing our day, our other trips, our homes. We were with several at two camps, so it was nice to see them twice.
Appreciated the charging stations in the main tent area. We were able to keep all batteries charged. The chargers in the safari vehicle we had did not work, but it was not a problem." See all these reviews: 11n in Kenya
"Perfect start"
The tents are comfortable and the toilets spotless. The outside shower is always a wonderful experience and they deliver hot water in a lovely retro enamel jug when they wake you too. Strangely one of my favourite things - washing my hands and face in the early morning light outside the tent before going off on the game drive.
We met some lovely guest and had a great laugh. Daniel's team were wonderful - from the cook, Titus to our guide, who we loved, Amos and our great driver.
The lion sightings are fantastic and the walk with the Masai guides is a joy. We had only just left the airstrip when we saw a male lion and lioness running through the bush, then were able to watch them meet the rest of the pride.
We were a little doubtful about the visit to the Masai village but in actual fact it turned out to be a hugely enjoyable event in which we learn a lot. Being with Daniel and his team gave us a real taste of the Masai traditions and culture in a way none of the other camps quite did which is why it really was the perfect start to the trip.
We were sorry to leave and would definitely return to a similar camp again." See all these reviews: 14n in Kenya; 6n in Tanzania
"Selenkay Adventure Camp review"
The management and staff at the camp were very kind and helpful, and even moved us to another camp with indoor bathroom facilities.
Although we did not get a chance to stay at the Adventure Camp, it appeared to be a fine spot where one could enjoy their stay and be close to nature." See all these reviews: 13n in Kenya; 4n in Rwanda
