Southern Sun Dar

Southern Sun Dar

"Travelling made easy at Southern Sun"

1 night Arrived 17 Aug 2017
"My husband and I and two girls aged 13 and 11 were so tired after our flight from the UK. Southern Sun Dar was perfect for an overnight stay.

Staff very friendly and we were greeted with a lovely cool bottle of water each. Clean, air conditioned rooms with everything you might need at your fingertips. Dinner was good and there was a wide choice at breakfast.

Altogether very easy , it did the job perfectly."

Impala Camp

Impala Camp

"Terrific Time at Selous Impala Camp "

4 nights Arrived 18 Aug 2017
"We were recommended this camp by friends and are overjoyed they did. We honestly would find it hard to fault it all.

Stayed in a family tent, great layout for my husband and I and two girls aged 13 and 11. It was very clean, the hot and cold running water worked perfectly and the beds were so comfy! All staff were incredibly friendly - from our lovely Masai who escorted us to and from our tent several times a day with spear in hand, to our smiling waiter who brought us the most delicious food... and of course our wonderful guide and driver Ezra who went out of this way to give us the best safari experience possible. Nothing was too much bother for any of the staff.

A boat safari was already planned for us on our first evening because the staff had thoughtfully considered we might be too tired for a long excursion by jeep. Very relaxing! Our six hour jeep safaris each morning flew by because there is so much to see! It's worth getting up for the 6.30am departure each day and it doesn't seem a chore because it is so exciting. Breakfast in the bush each day was great fun.

Useful to know: We applied insect repellent and no big problem with mosquitos at all (we normally get eaten alive despite repellent!)

The camp gives you a plentiful supply of drinking water in your room..

Food is healthy and delicious given we were in the middle of nowhere. Limited choice, obviously, but always something to appeal to our often fussy children.

Shower gel and shampoo are provided.

Laundry service is efficient - and free!

You might not be lucky enough to see a leopard or rhino (we weren't) but we saw everything else you could hope for and it was magical. Very few jeeps about from other camps so it never felt touristy.

Altogether an extremely well organised camp in a beautiful setting by the river , staffed by genuinely lovely people intent on ensuring we had a fabulous holiday. They even gave us a packed lunch for our journey when we left (when I confessI I had a tear in my eye saying goodbye to everyone!)"

Baraza Resort & Spa

Baraza Resort & Spa

"Luxury at Baraza"

4 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2017
"A luxurious resort with a very serene feel. When we were there it was pretty much half couples, half families, but the overall atmosphere was quiet, perfect for relaxing.

Plus points :
Beautiful interior design throughout in white and gold, with pretty well maintained gardens. Our very spacious two bedroom garden villa was extremely stylish.

A huge pool, very clean. Staff very attentive bringing drinks to sun loungers.

Very good lunch (always a buffet) and delicious dinners alternating between buffet and table service each night which worked well.

Not so good was the long, not very lovely, drive from the airport (well over an hour) Also meant it was a long journey to Stonetown which we would have liked to visit one day, but couldn't face the journey.

The beach looks pretty when the tide is in but not too inviting for swimming because it is so tidal . We did walk out to the reef once which was fairly interesting, looking for sea anemone etc but we had no desire to do it again!"
