My Oct 2023 trip

Kenya between 10 Oct 2023 and 22 Oct 2023

Trip rating: Excellent
"The trip was fantastic.

The airport drivers were courteous and informative. They took good care of us. The overall organization was great. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. All we had to do was ask for something and it was taken care of.

Not sure we mentioned the Game Drivers specifically. They were superb!!! Silver rated but Gold Platinum in our books.

Our amateur group was pretty tired with the schedule and although we knew we could skip a game drive if needed- we didn’t want to miss out on anything. Next trip might be organized differently for our needs. Now that we have more knowledge and know what to expect.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Richard was very responsive and thorough. It would have been nice to have received the book sooner to give us more time to review and customize/expand our itinerary. Having the logistics taken care of allowed us to focus on our experiences."

12 Oct 2023 • Morning excursion

Hiccup at entry as cash was no longer accepted.

It was great to learn about and feed the giraffes. It was a fun way to start our adventure.

The gift shop was awesome.

Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit

Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit

"Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit review"

12 Oct 2023 • All-day excursion

Entry was delayed.

We expected to pay but driver didn’t know so we had to address after with our host.

We arrived just as the noon feeding started. It was very crowded and obstructed views.

Questionable worth as national park entry fee was required.
Kicheche Valley

Kicheche Valley

"Kicheche Valley review"

4 nights Arrived 13 Oct 2023
"AMAZING!!!

From our greeting to departure we were treated like royalty. The staff was exceptional, personable and seemed truly happy to have us as their guests.

We loved learning about the culture and a few Swahili phrases. The behind the scenes tour of the camp is a must. We’d love to learn more about the sustainability and inside workings of running such a camp.

The personal touches like morning hot water bottles in the vehicles to everyone welcoming us back from a game drive with beverages and cold wet towels to wash the dust off goes above and beyond. The food was incredible (and plentiful) and the efforts to adapt to food allergies or dislikes was exceptional.

Even the detail of the nightly table settings made everything personal and special. Thank you for offering a gift shop area with the ability to purchase and support local Maasai women.

We can’t wait to come back! Minnie runs a great camp."

Kicheche Bush Camp

Kicheche Bush Camp

"Kicheche Bush Camp review"

4 nights Arrived 17 Oct 2023
"Again- what a great experience.

The Bush Camp is a little different from the Valley Camp but the same quality of service is still evident.

The food continues to be amazing- we invited their chef to come back to the states with us!

We couldn’t imagine that our animal sightings could get any better but each day brought new experiences. We witnessed 3 cheetah cubs checking out the world on their first day leaving the den!

Thank you."

The Emakoko

The Emakoko

"The Emakoko review"

1 night Arrived 21 Oct 2023
"Our stay at the Emakoko was only for the last 36 hours of our trip after spending 9 days in the Conservancies.

We were very tired and chose not to participate in any more game drives. Instead we took a trip to the Kitengala Hot Glassblowing Center and a second stop at Kobe Tough Bead and Leather Shop. Wonderful!

The Lodge was beautiful and welcoming. A step up to include a pool and official bar area. But to be honest, we felt the attention to detail regarding food restrictions and personal connections was not as good as at our Camps.

Each room was luxurious and spacious with its own balcony. The view was lovely as our room sat up on the side of a hill.

As nice as the Emakoko is- we prefer our Kicheche Camps."
