"Canoeing in Rwanda review"

Based at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on 1 Feb 2024
"Kayaking gave us a chance to see both birdlife and village life along the riverbanks, which added a different perspective to our experience in the country. The scenery is hilly, and the river has one section of mild rapids which are easily passed in a two-person kayak." Read more about this whole safari

"This is a bit of a hidden gem - most people we met hadn't heard about it.

A great way to finish our time in Rwanda - mostly very gentle canoeing with a lot of birds - ibis, geese, kingfishers. Two more exciting bits - a short straight rapid and then a bit of a slalom through a bamboo thicket. Plenty of support on hand if you capsize (we didn't but one of the other canoes did) so it always felt very safe." Read more about this whole safari

"This was an unexpected BLAST! The guide, Elra was hilarious and so knowledgeable. My mom is scared of moving water and you would have never known because the guide made her so comfortable. My dad and I were in a canoe by ourselves and had so much fun! Although we were obviously novices at canoeing and spent most of our time running into each side of the bank repeatedly, I don't think we ever stopped laughing!

The exercise and adventure was so much fun, and seeing a different view of the area and villages was great. The guides were so fantastic and knowledgeable of all the birds and history of Rwanda.

This was a last minute add on and was SO much fun!! I don't think my family stopped smiling or talking about this for hours." Read more about this whole safari

"Canoe trip in Rwanda"

Based at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on 22 Jul 2019
"We had a very good guide and it was a lot of fun. We had a total of 4 canoes on the trip. One of the canoes did overturn in an area where the water moves pretty fast. But there were plenty of guys who jumped in to help the people who had fallen out. It was definitely a nice trip and I would do it again" Read more about this whole safari

"A moment of calm, highly recommended "

Based at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge on 26 Sep 2018
"There's a lot of dashing about, early starts and fitting everything in. This was a wonderful moment of calm, cruising down the river with yet another wonderful and very professional guide. It's interesting seeing life on the riverbank - men fishing, women washing clothes and working in the fields, and small boys having fun. I also spotted pied kingfishers, malachite kingfishers, sacred ibis and other birds. I would recommend this excursion." Read more about this whole safari

"Enjoyable afternoon in a canoe"

Based at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on 25 Jul 2018
"Very sedate actiivity and a pleasant outing.

The grade 1 rapids were easily manageable by non experienced canoers.

The guide was interesting and fun although he never sent us the photos he took as requested (we left our email address)." Read more about this whole safari
