Our holiday of a lifetime did not disappoint!

Rwanda between 14 Aug 2017 and 25 Aug 2017

Trip rating: Excellent
"This was a special trip to celebrate some special birthdays and it was brilliant from start to finish. It completely exceeded our expectations.

The primate trekking throughout was phenomenal and brilliantly organised and to see gorillas in their natural habitat was awesome. Thank you Ellie for advising us to go twice, it was amazing! Expert Africa were professional and knowledgeable in their organisation and booking of the trip. I'd have absolutely no reservations in recommending you to friends and family. Our guide in Rwanda, Alex, was fantastic.

Thank you for making our trip so memorable and we're telling everyone about it!

A true holiday of a lifetime!"

Hotel des Mille Collines

Hotel des Mille Collines

"Hotel des Mille Collines review"

1 night Arrived 14 Aug 2017
"Hotel was only about 20 minutes from the airport. Security was tight.

Room was clean and tidy, if a bit tired/dated.

Breakfast and service were fine."

Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel

Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel

"Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel review"

3 nights Arrived 15 Aug 2017
"The staff were very welcoming and the waiting staff at mealtimes were very friendly and accommodating.

The room was fine. It was clean and tidy, but a bit tired looking. The bath was cracked and the lounge windows let in water when it rained, but neither things bothered us. We liked the fact that there was a separate seating area in the room. We didn't use the balcony as the view was just of overgrown bushes and there were only 2 dining room chairs there, so not too comfy. Loungers would have been useful here as they would have been on the terrace of the main hotel building. Lots of beautiful views but nowhere comfortable to sit to enjoy them.

The food was buffet style and there was always plenty of choice and plenty of it.

Wifi was available in the lobby and main building and was fairly reliable.

This wasn't the hotel that we originally booked, but as they were renovating the other one, this was the best available."

Cormoran Lodge

Cormoran Lodge

"Hotel in a beautiful location"

3 nights Arrived 18 Aug 2017
"Cormoran Lodge was a small hotel set on a very steep hill. Only about 6 lodges. our lodge (number 5) was the closest to the reception and dining room which made it a bit noisy at times, but it was very convenient! The lodge was great - very big with a separate seating area with a tv (which we never got to work), the view from the balcony was amazing and there were loungers there to enjoy the view. The bathroom was enormous, clean and there was always hot water.

The restaurant had plenty of choice and the food was clearly cooked to order so took a bit longer but the tranquillity and views could be enjoyed whilst waiting.

We went on a boat trip booked through the hotel and there was just the 2 of us on the boat. We didn't realise that there would be walking involved at the island destination so hadn't gone appropriately dressed. That might have been worth a mention as we weren't the only ones!"

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

"A sprawling hotel in a fantastic location"

4 nights Arrived 21 Aug 2017
"A superbly situated hotel in vast grounds. The biggest of all that we stayed in. Lodges were huge and well decorated with a veranda to relax on and indoor seating area. Occasional power cuts which were quickly rectified.

Food was buffet style but a huge choice and all very tasty and freshly cooked. Staff were very polite and attentive.

Lovely coffee bar and a roaring fire in communal areas at night and brilliant wifi.

We loved the boot cleaning service and the after trek foot massage!

Plenty of grounds to relax in and a daily local dance show"
