"Elephant Encounter review"

Based at Victoria Falls Hotel on 12 Oct 2023
"While the staff was very nice, it was not as expected.

I expected to learn more about the elephants and their care, as well as interact with them.

We had a photo op with the elephants, fed them a snack and then the staff marketed photos and videos of our experience." Read more about this whole safari

"Elephant Encounter review"

Based at Palm River Hotel on 30 May 2023
"We loved going to the elephant encounter! It was fantastic to be so close to these gentle giants - very informative about their rescue and potential release. You are able to walk with them and feed them.

They also serve you a large English breakfast if you tour first thing in the morning." Read more about this whole safari

"Elephant Encounter review"

Based at Batonka Guest Lodge on 13 Aug 2022
"A real highlight and very memorable. Although the elephants are 'semi-tame' the experience was kept as nature-based and natural as possible.

The guide was really informative about the conservation efforts, reserve and the history of the elephants themselves. We had to drive into the reserve to find the elephants first, stroked them and had photographs taken, then walked with them and finally were able to feed them which the children particularly enjoyed.

The elephant handlers were all on hand to ensure the interaction was safe and well managed and that the elephants were comfortable." Read more about this whole safari

"You should try this"

Based at Old Drift Lodge on 17 Feb 2020
"I had a great experience last year and wondered how doing this again would compare.

I needn't have worried as it was another interesting encounter, different and I learnt so much more than I thought I would second time around.

Thanks to Richard and the team of rangers with the group of seven elephants I went walking with - you are doing a great job." Read more about this whole safari

"Unique Elephant Encounter"

Based at Batonka Guest Lodge on 29 Aug 2018
"We enjoyed this encounter with these rescued elephants. After an introduction, we drove out to the elephants and met some of the rangers who care for them. We were able to touch one and have photos taken under the supervision of the head ranger.

Sometimes the elephant wanted to touch one of us too! She particularly liked one young woman in the group and touched her repeatedly with her trunk. Lots of laughing. The photographer was happy to take photos with our own cameras. Then we walked with the elephants to another area where we were shown how to give them treats. Of course they are accustomed to the treats and one of them bellowed when he was being ignored. Again, lots of laughs.

We returned to the main area where there is a gift shop and bar, and we were served snacks and drinks, and shown a video of the visit (available for purchase).

Not quite the same as seeing elephants in the wild, but enjoyable." Read more about this whole safari
