Bushbuck safari: In full
This Botswana safari to the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti Reserve stays in three great small safari game camps – 3 nights in Duma Tau, 2 nights at Chitabe and 3 nights at Little Vumbura. The bird-watching and big game viewing are excellent, and you’ll be staying at first-class camps which are small and intimate.
You’ll notice that this trip visits similar areas to our Reedbuck itinerary - which uses rather more luxurious camps, and hence costs substantially more than this trip.
This safari to Botswana can easily be combined with a visit to see the Victoria Falls. See our trips to Livingstone for examples of the add-on options, and their costs.
Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled overnight flight will take you to Johannesburg.Days 2-4
3 nights at DumaTau (full board & activities) | Kwando-Linyanti area, Botswana
In Jo'burg you'll connect to a scheduled Air Botswana or SA Airlink flight to Maun. From there you'll be flown to a small airstrip beside the Linyanti River, where a short game-drive will take you through woodlands to camp. You’ll be based here for 3 nights of top game-viewing and birding at Duma Tau.Days 5-6
2 nights at Chitabe Lediba (full board & activities) | Okavango Delta Safari Reserves, Botswana
A 40-minute flight takes you to Chitabe – your base for 2 nights on the south-western edge of the Okavango Delta. You usually reach camp in time for afternoon tea and your first safari activity. Chitabe is one of the Delta’s “dry camps", where the focus is on day and night game drives, and also walking (at the guides’ discretion). Days 7-9
3 nights at Little Vumbura (full board & activities) | Okavango Delta Safari Reserves, Botswana
After a short drive to the airstrip, and a flight of about 40 minutes or so, you land at Little Vumbura’s airstrip. It’s a 40-minute drive and boat trip to camp - through mopane forest, past papyrus stands and over flood plains – although you might take longer as you stop for game. Little Vumbura sits beside a stretch of permanent water and offers a great variety of activities. Get out on the water by mokoro and boat or explore the vast expanse of dryer terrain north east of camp by vehicle. For a further 3 nights, your comfortable base is Little Vumbura.Day 10
You’ll probably have time for a morning activity before a short (40 minutes) light aircraft flight from Vumbura to Maun. There you'll connect with your scheduled international flight to Jo'burg, and onto a scheduled overnight flight back to London Heathrow.Day 11
Arriving back in London Heathrow, early in the morning, it's hardly as appealing as Botswana – but then you will have had a superb safari!See Prices & details for the precise dates/prices for this trip - and all the fine print.
