A restored farmhouse dating back to 1905, Uplands Homestead is available on an exclusive-use basis only. It features a contemporary farm style kitchen, three spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, two with a ball and claw bath, one with an oval stone bath, and private verandas. The decor is based on 1820’s Settler style with a fresh and contemporary look. The furnishings exemplify rich colours and textures and the original antiques are complemented with glass and crystal lanterns, celadon ceramic lamps and silver candlestick holders to give this laid back luxurious home a comfortable and romantic ambiance.

Big Game Walking Safari

Experience the thrill of tracking big game (white rhino, black rhino, elephant and buffalo) on foot, accompanied by an armed specialist ranger and tracker team. The walk lasts 3 to 4 hours and ends with a picnic lunch on the banks of the Great Fish River or at a scenic spot in the bush. Cost is per person, min 2 guests, max 6 guests, 16 years &s older.

Flight of the Blue Crane

Take off from Kwandwe in a fixed-wing aircraft for just over an hour’s flight over the Frontier Region. Fly over the rural scenes to the coast, where you could spot a Southern Right or Humpback whale (seasonal) and dolphins. Fly along the coast over the largest active sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Following the route taken by the early Settlers you will fly from Port Alfred back to Grahamstown and back to Kwandwe. Cost is per activity, per day, max 4 guests, available all year

Rhino Darting

This experience offers the opportunity to participate in Kwandwe’s exciting rhino-darting programme, under the supervision of experts. Cost is per group of up to 6 guests, age 12 & older, available year round but the best time is 01May-30Sep. The recommended duration of stay is 3nights/ 4days (price excl accommodation).

Rhino Monitoring

Spend 2 - 3 hours tracking rhino with a member of Kwandwe’s rhino monitoring team. Learn about the habits of this threatened species as well as Kwandwe’s conservation efforts. Cost is per person, min 2 guests, max 6 guests, 12 years & older, available all year

Twice daily game drives

Explore the natural splendour of Kwandwe on early morning and late afternoon / evening game drives in an open 4×4 safari vehicle. Included in rate
