Musanza is a small intimate camp with just six tents.
Musanza Bushcamp: Our full report
Sadly, Musanza Bushcamp is closed and is not due to re-open in the foreseeable future.
Musanza Bushcamp is a semi-permanent bushcamp hidden under thick shady trees on a wooded 'island' and overlooking permanent pools along the Lufupa River. It's only open during Zambia's dry or safari season (Jun-Nov) and taken down during the rainy season. As the dry season progresses these pools become an important water source for the wildlife of northern Kafue National Park and there's usually plenty of animal action observed from the camp!
This small intimate camp has only six walk-in tents. More simple than basic in style, each spacious tent has twin beds, a hanging wardrobe made of canvas and a luggage rack. An en-suite bathroom is set up at the back, complete with flush toilet and a bucket shower – filled with warm water on request. Tents are lit by a combination of rechargeable lamps and paraffin lanterns.
Musanza Bushcamp's main area is an open-sided canvas tent housing a small sitting area, the dining table and bar. Beyond this, the campfire makes a great pre and post dinner gathering point where guest can relax and relive the day's experiences.
Activities from Musanza concentrate on day and night drives in open 4WD safari vehicles. These will either spend time exploring the nearby wooded surroundings or travel further to explore the captivating Busanga Plains. As well as the usual myriad of antelope species found in Zambia, this area is home to the diminutive oribi, Lichtenstein's hartebeest and the usually shy roan. Guests also have the chance to spot elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, cheetah and even wild dog if they are very lucky.
