Etosha Safari Camp review
First impressions were of very friendly staff here, the decor is based around a Shebeen theme with lots of old political posters and all sorts of paraphernalia from the past. The room was very comfortable, ours was close to the pool and eating area but others are spaced over the hillside.
The evening meal was buffet style with a good choice of meats and vegetables.Tables are set in a circular area and two musicians entertained us all evening.
We really enjoyed our brief stay.
Etosha Safari Camp review
This was a good value alternative to staying inside Etosha. It was conveniently located not too far from the gate.
The food was good as was the service.
Quirky character close to Etosha
Good location as a springboard for Etosha - it is a quick and easy drive into the park. The camp has a quirky character - kind of upmarket mock African township. It is comparatively big and busy with tour parties.
The rooms are huts with iron roofs which make them quite hot but they do have air-con. There is a swimming pool to cool off after a hot drive. The buffet style food was good - plenty of it and a good choice with more salad and vegetables than in some other places we stayed in.
Etosha Safari Camp review
We stayed here for 2 nights but I think 1 is enough, it is a decent place and a short drive from the Anderson Gate. The food and restaurant area is really good and a lot going on as there seems to be a lot of groups passing through. I have nothing negative to say about it, but compared to some of the places it was more practical than different.
Be careful on the roads insde the camp that lead to the chalets if you are in a saloon the bumps are very high in parts and it nearly took the bottom of the car off, so we left it in the main carpark, if you chose to do this they will help you take your bags up in a 4x4!
Etosha Safari Camp review
We loved this place, we were lucky enough to have a lovely view from our little terrace, not all do.
The decor around the resurant and bar area was most interesting with a nostalgic student feel, teenagers would like the bar area. pool and surround were a great place to spend a lazy afternoon when we had had enough of driving around Etosha.
Food was good and a nice change to have a curried type meat instead of steaks.
Etosha Safari Camp review
The tent was well located on a hillside to catch the breeze and the view. The former was needed as there is no cooling fan in the tent and it must get insufferably hot in there in high summer.
The meals were good as was the service from the friendly local staff.
The lodge is used by safari coach parties.
The swimming pool was cool and most welcome
Etosha Safari Camp review
This is a good spot that satisfies all the needs of accommodation with not many frills but we found that our group was very happy there having a few drinks by the pool and in the cooky bar.
I think that it was relaxed enough and set out so that it was not ackward to have kids there. Our stay was just over one short afternoon and one night gone in the morning.
Excellent value safari camp outside Etosha
A great location, close to Andersson Gate which meant we could stay in the park right up until sunset, which was great. The camp was also very peaceful. The tents were well equipped and we all enjoyed our stay here. Hot water was available all day in the very well equiped en-suite bathroom - we particularly liked the circular shower! We were booked on a B&B basis, but decided to eat dinner there as well.
The buffet dinner was excellent value and very good (as was the breakfast). The staff were friendly and the dining room was very good. The shop in reception was well stocked and reasonably priced, much to the children's delight! Although we didn't use the pool it appeared clean and well-frequented by others.
We had a very enjoyable stay here and it served as an excellent base and introduction to western Etosha.
