Farmhouse Hotel review
By the high standards we enjoy in SA this was not up to scratch. We felt that management were not great as evidenced by a very casual attidude on arrival & a very mediocre restaurant.
Apart from watersports there is not much to do apart from a visit to the Nature reserve which we enjoyed & is why we went to Langebaan.
Great Hotel with an Amazing View
What a lovely setting for a hotel!!! We only stayed here for one night but we wish we would have had at least 2 or 3 nights.
The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We had a room by the pool which was quiet and peaceful. We had dinner a the hotel and it was fantastic! We were able to watch the sunset while eating dinner and it was beautiful! Breakfast was very good and again, the views were great! Staff was very friendly and helpful!
The Farmhouse - a good simple Hotel
The Farmhouse came as an oasis after a 900Km stretch from Augrabies to Langebann. The hotel is situated on a beautiful location, with good views to the Langebann Lagoon.
People at reception were always friendly and helpful, the rooms very spacious and the restaurant with very good food and a superb breakfast (especially for us, after 13 days cooking quite limitedly for ourselves at KTP and Augrabies).
Farmhouse Hotel review
This is a nice hotel. However, when we arrived, we were greeted with the news that a significant water leak had occurred in the room we were to occupy, rendering it uninhabitable, and that the hotel was full.
The hotel wanted to send us to a "luxury" B & B, which we later looked at and which was unacceptable.
In the end, after some fraught discussions, a suitable room was found for us and all was well.
Lagoon wonderful at Langebaan
The largest place we stayed in on our long trip. But very friendly (all seemed very young!) staff.
Very good location to get to the West Coast National Park , where we spent all of the 2 days we had ... That was awesome. Great restaurant there too, where we enjoyed cake and watching weaver birds. But the hides were the highlight - flamingos, egrets, stilts, plus all 'waders' as the tide went in and out.
Hotel PS - large portions - even with an appetite, managing the starter and main course at the hotel was tricky!
Farmhouse Hotel review
The Old Farmhouse Hotel in Langebaan was delightful. We were given a warm welcome in both senses – the evening was cold, wet and windy but they made sure that our room was warm - they even invited us to light the coal fire iif we wanted - and put hot water bottles into our bed.
The room had a lovely view over the lagoon, with a comfortable settee from which we could watch the sunset.. Food was good, laid on in front of a roaring log fire in the dining room., and the lounge had a useful selection of boooks on the fauna and flora of the area. There was an excellent buffet breakfast.
It was not the weather to sample the swimming pool!!
Farmhouse Hotel, Langebaan
The Farmhouse was entirely acceptable - but after some of the other places we stayed it was rather ordinary and the service rather low key after the personal attention we had got used to!
Our room was very comfortable and the view of the lagoon great, but the gardens were ordinary and the public areas rather utilitarian - I think we had just been spoiled beforehand!
Farmhouse Hotel Langebaan
A large and comfortable room.
Meals were rather a disappointment, especially as we had had so many good meals before. However we can highly recommend ostrich at Spinnakers and (huge) pizzas at Pearlys, so much so that friends who were in Langebaan later in the year made straight for Spinnakers and are now recommending it to members of theirwind-surfing club.
We had a wonderful day driving through the West Cost National Park, where the wild flowers were in full bloom and a good variety of wildlife and beautiful scenery were to be seen. However, the flowers on the drive towards Langebaan were perhaps more abundant. This compensated for the long drive down to Langebaan. Perhaps we should have thought about splitting this journey in two.
A superb hotel on the edge of the town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Our room was excellent with an excellent view over the lagoon. The dinners and breakfasts were also excellent with plenty of choice.
We were able to go on an excellent walk in the Postberg section of the West Coast National Park which was wonderful for flowers and animals.
