Set in its own canyon, Zebra River Lodge is run by the delightful Rob and Marianne. It is a small, comfortable lodge with a big welcome.
Drive onto a mountain with Rob to watch the sun go down, then return for one of Marianne's delicious dinners and a perfect evening. Zebra River's seven rooms are airy and well furnished; there's also a cool veranda and a plunge pool.
Beyond are natural springs in the canyon, ideal for a day's walking and birdwatching (black eagles and rosy-faced lovebirds are resident favourites).
Zebra River is very good value – a relaxing and exceedingly friendly place for a long stay.

Ideal length of stay: Zebra River Lodge makes a great stop for a minimum of two nights to hike - but many visitors stay a lot longer, to explore the mountains more, and to use it as a base for visiting the Sesriem area of the Namib Desert
Lovely location plus warm hospitality.
