"A marvellous safari"

I visited Zambia between 1 Oct 2008 and 16 Oct 2008
"The trip as a whole was excellent, very enjoyable, and very fruitful as regards animal sightings, and vegetation and general environment explanations. We would highly recommend such a trip, and we would highly recommend Robin Pope Safaris, which we hope keeps its efficient but homespun individual character.

We went at the end of the season in spite of the heat, expecting good game viewings, but found the heat at night a problem and made much use of kikois. For the first time we all got gut problems, and found we were not alone in this, but cannot put the cause down to any one thing - heat, dehydration or food. However, only one of us had to miss one game drive, and staff were solicitous, so ailments were an inconvenience, rather than a major problem." "Brilliant holiday would not change a thing"

I visited Zambia between 26 Sep 2008 and 11 Oct 2008
"Great time. Bushcamp was very organised and everything happened as they said it would. Very good attention to detail and ensuring we felt special.

All the people we met were charming and helpful and we enjoyed meeting them all. Felt very sad to leave the Bushcamp crew !

Claire did a great job putting the holiday together and listening and addressing what was important to us" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Zambia safari

"zambia for bushcamps and walking"

I visited Zambia between 19 Sep 2008 and 4 Oct 2008
"We first booked this trip for 2007 but Catherine was ill and we had to cancel. So we rebooked for 2008 as soon as we could.
Chris McIntyre was very helpful on the phone and persuaded me not to try to go to Botswana as well as Zambia. An excellent advice as this was more than enough for 2 weeks.

Anna worked through with me the camps to visit and their sequence, and got it just right so we had an excellent balance between basecamps and bushcamps. Mwalshi needs 4 days and is best kept until last. All the paperwork etc arrived to time and in full. I trust Expert Africa completely now after 2 trips with them to Africa. Many thanks to Anna.

The Bradt Guide is essential prior reading for choosing the camps and what to take etc.
Now I look forward to another trip to Africa. Will it be Botswana ( read up on the Bradt Guide first), Zambia in June/July, or back to Namibia. How lucky we are to have these choices!

"In the land of big cats"

I visited Zambia between 10 Sep 2008 and 23 Sep 2008
"This was our third trip with Expert Africa and it was wonderful. We were hugely impressed by the game density in South Luangwa NP. It was good to stay in the camps which are more isolated and consequently we saw virtually no traffic from other camps.

We are already thinking about our next trip . . .

Suggestions for improvement:

We would have liked to have brought gifts for Kawaza school and perhaps the Expert Africa team could bring this possibility to the attention of future travellers to Nkwali." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 12 on a Zambia safari

"Overall Comments"

I visited Zambia between 8 Sep 2008 and 25 Sep 2008
"This trip to Zambia was fantastic. My comments on the various lodges are all quite similar but that is simply because I had a great time at every lodge that I stayed at. The level of professionalism was very impressive, meals were always great, and I was impressed by every single guide that I met. I think that the guides in Zambia, as a whole, are the best in Africa. They always seemed to strike the perfect balance between pleasing the guests and not intruding on the wildlife. They always made sure not to upset or harass the wildlife.

Expert Africa was fantastic in helping put my itinerary together. Extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and very responsive to any questions that I had. This is the second trip I have taken with Expert Africa, and I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested in visiting Africa. Thanks for everything!

"Zambia 2008"

I visited Zambia between 8 Sep 2008 and 25 Sep 2008
"Exceeded expectations, Zambia has a great future in ecotourism if it can secure investment and market itself.

Largely unspoiled and well populated with diverse game despite hunting its a great destination and more people should visit there rather than falling back on the old stalwarts all the time, Masai, Ngorongoro, Kruger Etosha etc.

Perhaps though most suitable for a third or subsequent African trip." Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 9 on a Zambia safari

"South Luangwa and Kafue Trip"

I visited Zambia between 1 Sep 2008 and 20 Sep 2008
"RPS in South Luangwa was first class once again and their operation the reason we went back to Zambia.

Kafue with Wilderness' Rivers and Plains Exploration was more of a economic extension to enable us to see a different area and generally we very much enjoyed it." Read full review: 19 nights in Africa; 12 on a Zambia safari

"Luangwa doesn't disappoint"

I visited Zambia between 30 Aug 2008 and 11 Sep 2008
"From start to finish, the whole trip went very smoothly, with all movements linking seamlessly, especially in the bush where the logistics of moving people and supplies around between camps must be a nightmare. Congratulations to the unseen logistics team.

As far as the safari experience went, the whole holiday was a marvellous experience. I consider it to be a privilege to be lucky enough to visit places as wild as Luangwa with such a high level of comfort, and with such friendly people, whose sole aim seemed to be my enjoyment. Poor Theresa was distraught when previous guests ran her out of Mosi, but we made do with red wine OK, until the truck arrived next morning with fresh supplies.

I know Anna was in the bushcamps at the same time as me, but unfortunately our paths never crossed. I hope her experience was on a par with mine. I returned home a happy bunny with lovely memories of a great part of Africa, apart from the Tetse bites which still itch a little!

Thankyou all.

Suggestions for improvement:

It is always helpful to have an up to date indication of tipping levels, and the fact that dollars are acceptable virtually everywhere.
Similarly with extra expenses eg airport/flight taxes. Then one can ensure one has the correct amounts available in the necesary denominations, with no nasty surprises at barriers.

There was a lot of uncertainty as to the obligation to tip or not, the armed scout ,as he is not employed by NCS. The requirement to tip the guide separately is covered in Chris's book, but perhaps all the above could be swept up into the 'Notes for travellers' booklet" Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 12 on a Zambia safari
