"Victoria Falls Hotel review"

2 nights Arrived 17 Apr 2011
"This is an older style luxury hotel with a 'colonial' feel. The situation is stunning with a great view of the bridge at Victoria Falls and of the clouds of spray coming off the top of the falls. The service was excellent and food good.

There is a very nice, large swimiing pool and you can walk to the Falls from the grounds, although I had not realised before I went that you have to walk through the National Park to get there so the 'you are now entering the National Park, beware of wild animals' sign was a bit of a shock!

As I was on my own I got the guard (armed) to walk me through. If you want to walk across the bridge at the falls you need to take your passport as the bridge spans between Zimbabwe and Zambia." See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Incredible water, rainbows, colonial hotel"

1 night Arrived 13 Feb 2011
"To visit Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and not stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel, is to miss a crucial element of the experience. When we arrived we were given a wonderful upgraded room with a view of the falls and the garden (we were told it was because my husband had visited the falls many years ago...we hadn't told them that so Expert Africa must have played a role in the upgrade).

The hotel's history is reflected in the incredible photographs which fill the walls. We ate dinner in the fanciest of the hotel's restaurants with delightful service headed up by a Maitre D' who told us he has worked in the restaurant for 42 years and met a very long list of royalty, Hollywood, American political figures, etc.

The hotel seems to be doing some refurbishing and that is clearly called for, but its former elegance is certainly visible." See all these reviews: 5n in Botswana; 1n in Zimbabwe
