"Great camps in a remote area only for walking"
After leaving Kaingo and crossing the Luangwa river two times by canoe we reached Crocodile Bushcamp. The area is an only walking area without any vehicles or their tracks around. On our 3 day walking safari we walked around the camps and from one camp to the other.
Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp are rustic but wonderful places to stay in the wild and without missing anything (remember no vehicles: everything incl. food and drinking water has to be carried to the camps by porters !!!). The food is fantasic and we didn't understand how they create those delicious meals just with an hole in the bottom oven!!! Like in all the other camps we had visited on our safari also the staff of these 2 bushcamps was so friendly and helpful.
Our guide during the whole walking safari was Isaak with an incredible guiding experience of more than 40 years !!!! He was the best walking guide we could have got. In his presence there was no moment where we felt uncomfortable or unsafe even when approaching lions or having unexpected encounters with hippos or elephants.
A walking safari is an other wonderful experience - you are part of the nature you visit and although we saw many big and small animals (I was surprised how close we could get to many of them) you see and learn so much about the small things you usually miss when going by vehicle. And Isaak told us so much about all those things - it was really fantastic!
In conclusion: If you visit Zambia don't miss to go on a walking safari - and Crocodile Bushcamp and Chikoko Tree Camp in an only walking area are perfect places to do it! (... and ask for Isaak as your Guide !!!)" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

Delightful, friendly staff, superb meals and excellent beds. How do they do it?!
Isaac was a mine of information, and with his tongue in cheek humour and wealth of (possibly tall?) tales we learned so much in our time in the bush.
It's worth noting that the terrain between the camps is criss-crossed with deep fissures in places. We wore walking shoes but something with a bit of ankle support might be preferable" See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia
"Crocodile Bushcamp review"
Of the two camps we preferred the accommodation and location of Crocodile slightly more. Sitting watching a herd of elephants surrounding the camp to feast on the ebony fruits was one of the highlights of our holiday.
With hindsight we might have spent 2 nights at Crocodile and 1 at Chikoko instead of the other way around. Better still would have been 2 days at each!" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

In general we did not find the communication with Isaac so easy - had we known the local language we would have got much more out of his conversations with the park ranger. As it were, we felt somewhat kept in the dark as to what was going to happen next - and why." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia
"Ian and Michelle - Crocodile Bush Camp review"
As with the Chikoko Camp, the food was outstanding using a very rudimentary kitchen. Our great trail guide Isaac and the camp staff made our stay a thoroughly enjoyable experience I'd recommend to anyone who likes a good hike." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia; 6n in Zimbabwe

"lovely walking in June"
It was long grass, fewer easy-to-see animals, more raptors and other birds. The grass covers the holes made earlier by elephants & buffalo in the black cotton soil which means walking there requires care. Alex our guide was excellent, and also good company as we were the sole visitors so we were able to talk about life and progress being made in Zambia.
A lovely lodge at this time of the year." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

The food retains the high Tafika quality with fresh supplies being walked in almost daily.
Between Crocodile and Chikoko, I prefer the latter, due to its upstairs sleeping, but they are both super little camps with excellent staff and guides." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
