Lovely Zebra River Lodge
Owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful, delightful atmosphere. Location ideal for hiking and relaxing. Roads to lodge are somewhat unsuitable for anything other than a good sized 4x4.

Very good welcome. Friendliness easily spread to guests. Very good food.
The guide for the morning walk could have been more informative.

Friendly staff obviously treated well. Owners not there but stand in staff good.
Dogs a bit out of control and one in particular was defineatly not safe for small children but they were very up front about this issue.
Zebra River Lodge review
Of all the lodges we stayed at, this was a particular favourite. Stunning landscapes with more than enough walking opportunities.
We did the Canyon walk which afforded fantastic views of the area, and can be completed by any moderately fit person in around 5 hours. Great home cooked food shared with the other guests in the lodge. Staff knowledgeable and friendly.
Zebra River Lodge - very friendly
Rob and Marianna, and the staff at Zebra River Lodge were very friendly and helpful. They very kindly moved us to another room, because of a mouse in our original room! Special thanks to Jana.
We enjoyed the food, particularly the family atmosphere sitting around dining tables, the setting and the walk up to the Quiver tree.
The lodge is a little bit off the beaten track (if there is such a thing in Namibia), but it was a very nice place to spend our first 2 nights in Namibia.
Zebra River Lodge review
Zebra river is a very friendly lodge with everyone eating breakfast and evening meals together. Rob was very knowledgeable about the local area ( and Namibia).
We spent a good day walking in the Tsaris mountains.
Wonderful first stop, superb cooking
Arrived very late due to delayed flight which meant that we had had to drive in the dark. It is perhaps a little too far for a first stop from Windhoek if you have never been to Namibia before and driven on the dirt roads!
We had a smashing welcome and it was lovely to all sit around the dinner table sharing experiences with fellow travellers. Rob and Marianne both have plenty of knowledge about the area. Rob particularly went to a great deal of trouble to explain an onward route for us and this resulted in another highlight of our holiday. Rob is hoping to gain a commercial pilots licence soon so with an air strip there will be an extra dimension to this location.
Unfortunately at the time of our visit they were struggling to combat a domouse infestation in a couple of the rooms which whilst understandable in this sort of area did result in a fairly disturbed sleep.
The Canyon and quiver tree walk is well worth the effort but allow a little more time if you find the heat tiring, packed lunch superb.
Friend you never knew you had
Staying at Zebra River is like staying with your best friends. You can do as much or as little as you like, with Rob, Marianne and the staff on hand to help.
Great walks (Quiver tree, easy 3hr walk), Great views, Great home cooking and Rob's sun downer is a must.

A very relaxing place with a warm welcome and very helpful, friendly staff. There was a convivial atmosphere in the dining room - lots of conversation and good food and wine.
We seemed to have a more baisc room than others and were offered a change the second day but didn't take it as we were just about to go on a walk.
Lots of opportunities for walks with good maps and explanations. An ideal end to a busy holiday.
