Heinizburg Hotel review
an OK-ish property with excellent location - beautiful views over the city. the room was a bit dark and smelled stale. the food was very good. our guide Adolf (who showed us the city) was also very good.

Glass of champagne on arrival, room was beautiful.
However, after 36 hours travelling we were keen to eat dinner quickly and have an early night. The restaurant staff took over 30 minutes to produce an English menu and there were no cold beers. When the food eventually arrived it was delicious.
Still the best place to start a trip
Our usual pleasant stay was slightly marred this time by some service issues ie we were not offered a welcome drink as normal though others were and in the morning we were phoned and chased over to breakfast, being told it had closed when it had not. We therefore rushed over for nothing (with wet hair!) only to receive an apology from the receptionist who had called us admitting she had forgotten it was the weekend (because every day seems the same to her in the hotel industry she said) and breakfast was half an hour later. Not a good start to our day or the holiday. They did however help with the tyre problem we had with the car company by phoning them for us so this was helpful .
We enjoyed a very good dinner but it was a shame they don't sell glasses of champagne in the evening which we would have liked with our oysters and only full bottles are available at night apparently which we thought restrictive.

Absolutely outstanding! The accommodations, staff, and food was superb!

The restaurant setting is lovely. All the staff impeccable and friendly.
The food was a little bit too "inventive" and the flavours too forced, even for adventurous foodies like us.
Heintzburg Hotel, Windhoek
We arrived off the early morning flight, knowing our room would not be available until later in the day; it was ready at 1.30.
After 20 hours of travel we would have appreciated a warmer welcome, with quickly-served tea/coffee, and an indication of where the loos were/where we could wash.
Stylish Start
Another great first night stay in this fabulously refurbished bolthole. Professional and friendly service with a delicious dinner and lavish breakfast on the terrace.
When our room was not quite the one we had expected the receptionist obligingly moved us without fuss.
Surreal night at the Heinitzburg Hotel
Although the hotel couldn't be faulted for its service or comfort, it wasn't our type of hotel. It would have been well suited in a European city, but had no 'African' feel or connection to Namibia.
We decided to eat there that night, as the view was so good from the terrace. However, the wine list was very over-priced and the food, although good, was rather pretentious. Having waiters wearing white gloves and whisking off silver tureens in unison, felt very peculiar in the middle of a small African city.

Good location and very comfortable rooms. Nice having a beer while looking out over the city.
Food good but it did take an absolute age to get our bill (ended up going back to room & then coming back 10 minutes later & it still wasn't ready, and after our journey from the UK we were zonked)
Heinitzberg Hotel
...very much an institution. Lovely pool and views from the terrace. As the weather was bad and they were not serving dinner on the terrace we went downtowm to Joe's Diner which is much to be recommended, the meat was amazing!
