What a great honeymoon!

Tanzania and 1 other country between 30 Jun 2011 and 12 Jul 2011

Trip rating: Excellent
"We couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon - adventure, relaxation, some fantastic sights and amazing food and drink.

The Expert Africa team delivered the honeymoon we were after and suggested the perfect resorts to suit the type of holiday we wanted, in line with our personalities and expectations. All flights, connections and bookings happened as promised and it was a smooth transition through each stage of our break.

We wanted to go away and start our married life together in a beautiful country and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, without having to worry about the admin and minor details of transfers, etc. Expert Africa delivered exactly what we wanted and I would recommend anyone considering a safari to get in touch with the team so they can use their experience to deliver exactly what you want.

Lake Manze Adventure Camp

Lake Manze Adventure Camp

"Lake Manze Tented Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 1 Jul 2011
"This was a great introduction to what it means to be on safari. Straight from the plane we went onto a game drive with a really experienced and friendly guide (Victor) and brilliant driver (Salom). Then back for lunch which, like all of the meals, was fantastic with real quality.

Our tent was great too - more of a rustic experience with no electricity but just what we wanted as we wanted to feel like we were on an adventure. There is power available in the bar too so you can charge phones, cameras, etc.

It was an extremely relaxing experience with the day built around what we wanted to do and a variety of activities on offer. Being near the lake the option of a boat safari is excellent with even more animals to see.

To top it all off we were visited daily by elephants right outside our tent which was an experience we will never forget. To be so close to them was amazing.

Finally, it was a great touch for the staff to organise a romantic meal for two outside our tent on our last night. We would heartily recommend Lake Manze Camp to anyone considering a safari."

Selous Impala fly-camp

Selous Impala fly-camp

"Selous Impala fly-camp review"

1 night Arrived 4 Jul 2011
"Wow. What an experience!

Our own tent out in the bush with a guide, a cook, a ranger and a host. The level of service the guys provided was amazing considering where we were. The food was some of the best we had on our trip and some of the photos I took of breakfast made it look like we were in a top restaurant rather than in the middle of a game reserve.

Our guide - Ezra - did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and we really enjoyed chatting with him in the night, talking about his life and sharing our experiences together. Such a relaxing experience, even though we could hear the crocdiles and hippos entering the lake not too far away!

The Game Drive that we did with these guys was fantastic too as they managed to find us a leopard and very skillfully tracked it down when it initially ran away. Very patient and dedicated to getting us the pic and viewing that we really wanted.

If you want to get back to nature and feel waht it's like to be on a 'real' safari then give the fly-camp a go!"

Matemwe Lodge

Matemwe Lodge

"Matemwe Bungalows review"

6 nights Arrived 5 Jul 2011
"This was a perfect place for us to visit after 4 days on safari.

The place is idyllic with white beaches and blue sea plus an amazing tide that goes right out during the day meaning you can actually walk out to the reef and enjoy seeing starfish, eels, crabs, etc. These walks are provided free by Matemwe's experienced guides who are very helpful and great fun too.

Everything is taken care of at Matemwe - all you have to do is relax and enjoy the sunshine - either by one of the two swimming pools or on one of the beaches. All food is provided and of great quality - with some of the best seafood we've ever had. Even though it is a buffet style there is such a great variety - prepared by a talented chef - that there is always something for everyone.

The staff are extremely helpful too. They can never do too much for you - even getting recipes from the chef for us - and are keen to make your experience as relaxing as possible. We even had Swahili lessons from a few of the team.

The Bungalows are on a working beach and Matemwe is a working fishing village so as you drive to the Bungalows you do pass through the local village - and the conditions that the local people conduct their lives in. Initially we felt a little guilty about going to enjoy ourselves when some locals are clearly struggling but this feeling dissipates when you find out the integration that Matemwe Bungalows has with the local village and investment they make in the area.

Some of the locals are employed as staff, there has been investment in local projects and you can also go on a village walk to meet some of the locals and interact with them. By showing respect and inetgrating with the local community there is a real sense that the money invested in the resort does actually help improve the local village too.

To summarise, we had an amazing honeymoon at a beautiful resort with helpful staff and fantastic food. Couldn't have asked for more."
