This great-value safari holiday in southern Tanzania combines two of Tanzania's largest safari areas – the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park. Both parks are different but both offer a wonderful sense of wilderness which you will explore with the help of experienced camp guides, whilst staying at two excellent safari camps: Sand Rivers and Kigelia.


Days 1-4

4 nights at Sand Rivers Camp (full board & activities) | Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

Entering Sand Rivers, it appears a little rustic, with a thatched roof and polished stone floorsIn Dar you will catch a 45-minute flight to the Mtemere Airstrip in Selous GaDar, you are escorted through to your (45-minute) flight to the Kiba Airstrip in Selous Game Reserve. You will be met by a vehicle from Sand Rivers and taken back to camp to freshen up and have lunch – then head out on your first safari activity. In the evening return to stay at Sand Rivers.
Staying for 4 nights here, you can choose between a range of activities during your days. These include 4WD safaris, walking safaris, fishing and relaxing boat safaris on the Rufiji River and the connecting lakes.

Days 5-7

3 nights at Kigelia Camp (full board & activities) | Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

Kigelia Camp is relatively new in Ruaha...In the morning, catch another light aircraft from Kiba Airstrip to Ruaha National Park. The park's wildlife is fantastic, it has Tanzania's largest population of lion. A guide and a 4WD will meet you at Ruaha's airstrip for the short but scenic drive back to Kigelia. Spend your 3 nights here exploring the park, in a very different environment to the Selous.

Day 8

After your last morning on safari, you fly to Dar es Salaam where the itinerary finishes. You might like to consider one of our beach add-on trips.
