First Safari! June 3
Kenya between 3 Jun 2025 and 12 Jun 2025
We felt absolutely safe the entire time and very well cared for. Every aspect was planned perfectly.
Lewa Wilderness was our favorite camp, but we also really loved Encounter Mara."

Lewa Wilderness
"Lewa Wilderness - absolute best experience"
My daughter and I were treated like queens from the minute we arrived in Lewa. The hospitality of the entire staff is on point. We were cared for from the time we got there until we left; it was like being welcomed into a big family. I am still in awe at how amazing the experience was. The managers, Kara and Mush, are exceptional people with a real gift for hospitality.
Our room was amazing. We stayed in one of the hillside cottages and the views were breathtaking. It was quite fun to sit on the veranda with a cup of coffee and watch baboons and water buffalo. The room staff did an amazing job keeping everything clean and tidy. We loved the fire in the evenings.
Harry the chef is incredibly talented. The food was so delicious! We loved touring the organic gardens on the farm where all of our produce came from, and we even had lunch at the gardens one day which was lovely!
Abba and Carlos run the stables and do a fabulous job! They were both very personable and my teenage daughter and I really enjoyed talking with both of them throughout our stay. We enjoyed the horseback riding one morning with Benjamin and Martin, where we were able to get very close to ostriches, giraffes, and baboons. It was such a fun experience to be that close!
The walking safari was excellent as well! We got to see a rhino and her baby!
Our guide, Supukia (aka Spooky) was the absolute best. He really took such great care of us throughout our time there. He’s very experienced and knowledgeable, and he’s the reason we saw the things we did! He set the bar really, really high and I don’t know if guides at other lodges can compete.
We will always remember him and the rest of the staff!"

Encounter Mara
"Encounter Mara review"
The tent was comfortable and immaculate. We loved the hot water bottles in our beds at night for when the temperature dropped. The tent felt very secure and we had hardly any bugs!
One of my favorite parts was the evening bonfire and cocktails where we all gathered and talked about our days.
The food was excellent as well! We loved that we changed locations each day for lunch and dinner. The family style of eating was lovely because we were able to meet so many new people.
Activities at the camp were almost exclusively game drives, but we did enjoy a trip to a Maasai village close by to learn about their culture."

Balloon flight over the Mara
"Balloon flight over the Mara review"
9 Jun 2025 • Morning excursion
The flight itself was breathtaking and memorable. Our pilot Muhammad was very experienced and did a wonderful job locating different animal groups for us to see. We felt very safe the entire time.
After the flight Emmanuel drove us to breakfast where we ate out on the open plains with groups on other balloon flights. It was delicious and pleasant. We were very well taken care of.
We loved eating dinner outside on the patio!
Staff were very friendly."
