This safari holiday uses two different camps in two of southern Tanzania's best wildlife areas. Lake Manze serves as a great base from which to explore the best of the game viewing in Selous Game Reserve - Tanzania's largest game reserve. Whilst it's sister property Mdonya Old River Camp lies in a fabulously remote corner of Tanzania's larges National Park - Ruaha. This excellent value trip provides a great contrast of landscapes, flora and fauna; as well as diversity of game viewing activities.
From the domestic terminal in Dar es Salaam you will hop on a light aircraft flight to Mtemere Airstrip in the Selous Game Reserve. This flight is about 45 minutes, and upon arriving in the Selous there is a 20 minute drive to Lake Manze Camp. You usually arrive in time for lunch, and will then spend 3 nights here enjoying the safari activities on offer.
Leaving Lake Manze, It's about a 90-minute flight to the dramatic scenery of Ruaha. From the moment you arrive you'll be on a game drive, until you arrive at Mdonya Old River Camp. You will immediately start to notice the differences, and similarities, between the flora and fauna of the two parks. The wildlife is slightly different, but perhaps more prolific than Selous.
After your last morning on safari, you will fly back to Dar es Salaam. From there you may choose to continue onto one of Tanzania's islands for a relaxing beach holiday – perhaps Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia .
