"Having noted on our itinerary that this was the "only hotel near the airport" I had sensed that it might not be up to the grade of other accommodation that we would be visiting.

We had adjoining rooms which was great but on arrival there was an immediate problem with a considerable number of large ants entering the room from the base of the toilet. There was an insect spray which we used around the base of the toilet and thankfully this seemed to stop any more entering. The mosquito nets which attached the the adjoining doors were difficult to work with.

We had the added concern that 3 of our 5 bags didn't arrive at Kilimanjaro which meant that our short stay at Kia Lodge was over shadowed by the worries of dealing with that problem."

"Fabulous views of the lake from the room/tent and not overlooked by any other accommodation.

Staff all very polite and helpful. Tents were really clean and great bathrooms. Very spacious."

"A very different accommodation from the two previous nights. Modern in comparison. Incredible views from each bedroom's bay window across the crater.

Really enjoyable entertainment on Christmas Eve by an acrobatic group and a performance from the staff choir. A nice touch that each room received a Christmas gift. Great atmosphere. Excellent food and service. Opened for breakfast especially early so that we could get an early start to the day's game drive.

The rooms were so incredibly spacious that we could have easily made do with one room instead of 2 (each room had two double beds). Might be worth giving families this option."

"The lodge had a real safari feel to it, being an open camp in the Serengeti. Great accommodation in stone cottages.

Atmospheric camp fire after dinner in the evenings. Very relaxed and peaceful."

"An unbelievably stunning view of the beach and ocean from the room which were only a few steps from your terrace. Sea and pool were lovely and warm. Staff and service were great.

Felt totally relaxed the minute we arrived. Very casual atmosphere. Room cleanliness was amazing - they must have spent over an hour every day remaking/decorating the beds, mosquito nets, replacing towels, cleaning floors, bathrooms etc.

A party was put on for New Years Eve with dinner and dancing on the beach which all the staff attended. Made us appreciate how many staff were involved in looking after the 19 villas. Was a great atmosphere.

Staff regularly organised football for the children on the beach."
