Zambia is a wonderful country to visit

Zambia between 2 Jul 2008 and 17 Jul 2008

Trip rating: Excellent
"Our whole safari exceeded expectations. The staffs at the camps were very competent and professional, the food was delicious, and the accommodations were superb. The laundry service was also very convenient.

We were impressed how our drivers, Zebron, Sebastian, and Bertram, were able to navigate the maze of roads and off-road areas, and how they always ended up on a road back to the camps. We found the sand-bag bridges across some of the streams and the hand-powered ferry across the Luangwa River to be very interesting engineering accomplishments. And the Toyota Land Cruisers were able to handle all the driving conditions that were encountered.

The spotlight operators on the night game drives, Tom at Nkwali, Jonathan at Nsefu, and Chilamba at Tena Tena, were very effective in illuminating nocturnal animals, and we certainly appreciated their efforts also.

We were very pleased with the arrangements that Expert Africa made for us -- well done!"

Nkwali

"Nkwali Camp has an established quality"

2 nights Arrived 5 Jul 2008
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nkwali Camp. The staff quickly adjusted to our delayed arrival, by immediately taking us on an evening game drive with Zebron as our knowledgeable guide. He was responsible for our first sightings of kudus, lions, leopards, and many other animals.

It was a real pleasure to meet Robin and Jo Pope at this camp. There also was an informative talk about wild dogs by naturalist Matt Decker, which we found very interesting.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and it was such fun to view the hippos in the river from our windows.

We were especially impressed when we were treated to special refreshments by Aurelia ("Rails") on the "sundowner" stop during our final evening game drive."

Nsefu

"Nsefu Camp has a village-like quality"

3 nights Arrived 7 Jul 2008
"Caterer Vicki made us right at home, and introduced us to our comfortable rooms with well-equipped bathrooms. The warm face cloths that she handed out to us at the end of each game drive were very refreshing.

Our capable guide, Sebastian, found many animals for us to view, including a large group of 12 giraffes near the camp. He also provided us with a lot of information about the birds of the area, particularly on a walking safari that he conducted. We found the check lists provided by the camp for birds, animals, and trees to be very helpful.

One of the highlights of our stay at Nsefu was a visit to the Hot Springs area, which included a picnic lunch set up beside a beautiful lagoon by our driver Sebastian."

Tena Tena

Tena Tena

"Tena Tena has a real open outdoor atmosphere"

2 nights Arrived 10 Jul 2008
"Caterer Katharine met us when we arrived, and familiarized us with our well-constructed and comfortable tents. We found the separate dressing area adjoining the bathroom to be very convenient.

Our skilled guide, Bertram, was very observant, especially when he spotted a number of trees filled with vultures above a buffalo kill where lions were feeding.

Bertram drove us to Kawaza village on our final morning, where we visited the school, the medical clinic, and a traditional healer. We were also treated to a lunch of nshima, pumpkin leaves, and chicken, prepared by the village women. After lunch we were privileged to view traditional Lunda tribal dances performed by some of the women.

Following our visit to the village, Bertram proceeded to drive us to the Mfuwe airport, where he stayed with us until our flight left for Lusaka."
