Schoeman's Skeleton Coast Safaris
"Schoeman's Skeleton Coast Safaris review"
New experiences from dawn to dusk. All made even better by our excellent pilot/driver/guide André.
The camps were simple but comfortable, and all the staff were friendly and efficient.
The cooks were splendid, and even made mealie pap for us at our request - something we were keen to try but which wasn't available at other lodges."

Palmwag Lodge

Very much let down by the poor quality of the food. Breakfast buffet was ok, but the dinner buffet was dreadful. Very few options, almost nothing for vegetarians, and a couple of dishes that were downright unpleasant.
The pool bar offers burgers and pizzas. We didn't try the burgers, but the pizzas were terrible - cardboardy base, sweet tomato sauce, and thick layer of burnt cheese."

Etendeka Mountain Camp

Excellent stargazing - worth arranging your trip so that you arrive here around new moon and can see the Milky Way in all its glory.
Morning walk and drive/walk with guide Boaz were very enjoyable.
Wildlife high point: pair of klipspringer running and leaping up a steep hillside."

Onduli Ridge
"Onduli Ridge review"
If you're interested in interior design, and the Enclave (a private villa) isn't occupied, it's worth asking your guide if you can take a look.
Highly recommended: sleeping under the stars in a comfy bed (with a hot water bottle).
Excellent excursion to the petroglyphs at Twijfelfontein. We were worried that it might be very crowded, but we went early and there was hardly anyone around. And there is much more to see than the one slab that is shown in all the guide books.
Wildlife highlight: family of elephants taking a dust and mud bath in the river."

Ai Aiba Lodge
"Ai Aiba Lodge review"
Chalets were comfortable, but rather shabby and in need of a refurb. Very pleasant main area.
Highly recommended: early morning walk and drive/walk.
It really is worth leaving just after dawn; the light is beautiful.
Wildlife highlight: two Damara red-billed hornbills doing their courtship dance in a nearly tree."
