"Just fine to spend one morning"

Based at The Palms on 26 Oct 2020
"The Jozani forest is not the reason to go to Zanzibar, but if after a couple of days on the beach you want to do something different , it is an nice variation. Keep it to 30 minutes walk in the mahogany forest plus another 30 minutes to see the mangroves swamp (the most interesting part of the visit), with a 15 minutes stop between the 2 to watch the monkeys." "A different view of Zanzibar"

28 Nov 2018
"This is just a lovely walk through the forest, hoping to see the red Colobus monkeys.

We did see a couple, but it was interesting to walk through with a guide who was able to tell us a lot more about the trees, the mangroves and the crabs that live there.

The visitor Centre was interesting with some information boards explaining more about the area and the conservation work being done there." Read more about this whole safari

"Jozani Forest"

Based at Serena Inn on 8 Oct 2009
"Although the forest was a good 40 mins drive from Stone Town, it was interesting driving through the countryside. As the forest has a high water table, the area was very lush, which was drastically different than our experiences of the dry season in the Selous. The Jozani conservation guide was adequate, but not nearly as well spoken and knowledgeable as the guides in Arusha, Greystoke and Beho Beho. It was fun to see the monkeys, but it wasn't as inspiring after all we had already experienced.

On hind sight, and if possible, we would have preferred to have visited Jozani at the beginning of our trip in order to appreciate it more fully." Read more about this whole safari

"Jozani Forest Tour"

Based at Serena Inn on 3 Oct 2007
"Main reason to see the red colobus. Went in conjunction for full day with the spice tour.

Appeared that the local community were receiving some benefit from the visitors. It meant that the forest had been increased in area in recent years.

The monkeys were easily found by the local guide and they are very used to seeing visitors, they just hang about grooming each outhers in the bushes & trees. We wre also taken on a short walk through the forest and then to the mangrove area" Read more about this whole safari
