Spotted-necked Otter Safari: Day-by-day
More detailed information of what each day entails, and the various places you’ll stay on the Spotted-necked Otter Safari. Everything we do is completely tailor-made so while this is an idea which works well, we’ll always design an itinerary just for you.
Starts: Maun Airport
Maun to Savuti by light aircraft & 4WD
On arrival in Maun you'll be guided to a light aircraft for a scenic flight of about 45 minutes over the Delta's waterways and woodland. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you come in to land, and during the 30-minute safari drive to Savuti Camp.
Savuti Camp
Savuti Camp is about 30km due west of the Savuti Marsh, and the famous Savuti area of Chobe National Park. It stands in the private Linyanti Reserve, which covers 1,250km² and has within it three private camps. In the north, beside the Linyanti River, the environment is like the Chobe riverfront: open floodplains beside the water, an adjacent band of riverine forest, and then dense (mostly mopane) forests stretching away south.

"The accommodation was first class."

Savuti Camp is a very appealing little camp; the wildlife is plentiful and varied, the natural history of the area fascinating, and great guiding ensures that all of it can be enjoyed through a variety of activities. All of which is complimented by great food, friendly staff and very comfortable rooms and communal areas on your return to camp. See our full report on Savuti Camp

Savuti to Tubu Tree by 4WD & air
After a leisurely morning activity, you'll be driven to the airstrip for your light-aircraft flight of around an hour to Tubu Tree, on the western side of the Delta. On landing at Hunda Airstrip, watch out for wildlife during the ten-minute drive to camp, as there's often lots to see.
Tubu Tree Camp
Set on a large dry island on the west of Botswana’s renowned Okavango Delta, the small, traditional Tubu Tree Camp lies within the private Jao Reserve. This 600km² reserve is dominated by permanent wetlands with deep-water channels, seasonal floodplains, and islands. Thus when the floods arrive, game drives from Tubu Tree offer the best game sightings in the area, though conversely, water activities may not be possible year-round.

Tubu Tree Camp is a comfortable, stylish camp in picturesque surroundings. In the dry season, the game viewing on this western side of the Delta tends to be quieter than in other parts of the Okavango – a trend that's often reversed during the rainy season. However, with its location on the permanently dry Hunda Island, Tubu Tree offers the reserve's best year round game viewing. See our full report on Tubu Tree Camp
