My May 2025 trip
Botswana and 1 other country between 20 May 2025 and 2 Jun 2025
Our fifth trip with Expert Africa and once again we received very sound advice which led to a great selection of camps, each with a different feel.
The attention to detail in organising the arrangements and documention is outstanding.
We cannot thank Tracy Lederer enough for her help again."

Machaba Camp
"Machaba Camp review"
The camp itself is well laid out, private & homely. The rooms were comfortable and the food good. The staff were excellent and made us very welcome.
Our guide BD was excellent and knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. We were lucky to be with a great group in our jeep which made for a great atmosphere, and some lively & fun conversation at mealtimes.
There were some lovely touches by the camp which have given us some special memories - we won't say what as it might spoil the surprise! :)"

Pom Pom Camp
"Pom Pom Camp review"
There was always plenty to see on drives. With our excellent guide/tracker team of Ryder and Zuma we had the most wonderful sightings of leopards in particular, but a wealth of other wildlife too. Once again we were lucky to be grouped with some lovely people in our jeep. Aside from the game drives we had a lovely sunset mokoro ride, and also a short walking safari which taught us more about the flora and activity in the ground beneath our feet.
The camp atmosphere was lively and fun with a great relaxed feel. The food was excellent and staff were very lovely, welcoming and thoughtful in taking care of everyone.
The tent was extremely comfortable (including a great outdoor shower) and well equipped, with lovely views from the deck."

Splash Camp
"Splash Camp review"
We had a boat trip up the delta which was generally scenic rather than teeming with birds/wildlife, although we did have a great encounter with an elephant in the water eating the water lilies. The staff laid on a mobile bar and snacks for our return which was lovely and gave everyone a chance to socialise a bit more.
The camp staff were once again very welcoming and warm. However we did feel mealtimes were a little rushed with the staff keen for the dining area to be vacated which could be miscontrued as being unwelcoming. However, that said, the food was very good with a great choice.
The rooms although lovely and beautifully appointed, lacked the character of the tented accommodation we enjoyed at our other two camps. This however is a matter of personal preference. The shower pressure was very low which was a bit disappointing at the end of a dusty day - we did mention it to one of the managers but there was no improvement so possibly this is what it is given the location in the bush."

It was great watching wildlife from our patio which included impala, elephants and hippos.
The food was excellent with a very good choice both at breakfast and in the evening. We enjoyed the live pianist, Miles, who played a very varied set list each evening, and was lovely to chat to about music in general.
We had an early departure on our final day and the lodge organised a delicious packed breakfast for our onward journey."
