Room types at Feline Fields

1 of 1

Bush Suite

Feline Fields Lodge's three spacious Bush Suites are light and airy, raised more than a metre off the ground on beautiful decks made from sustainable wood. This gives you the feeling of floating in the Kalahari savannah with phenomenal views from every angle.

Each bush suite has twin beds which can be converted to a super king size bed, surrounded by flowing mosquito nets and complemented by an inviting en-suite bathroom with double basins, walk-in massage shower and flushing toilet. The suites' sides can be opened up, leaving only transparent gauze netting between you and the bush, creating a natural flow of air and giving that feeling of being completely surrounded by nature.

All of the suites have a beautiful "star bath" out on their private wooden deck where you can admire the crystal-clear Kalahari night sky while enjoying a long, romantic soak. Add a bottle of bubbly for an extra drop of romance!

Family Villa

The sizeable two-bedroom Family Villa is perfect for couples with children or even two couples travelling together and overlooks the pristine wilderness of the Kalahari savannah.

Gauze windows allow for a natural flow of air to the private lounge and the canopied bedrooms on either side of it. Both are double bedrooms, one of which can be converted to a twin or triple room. Each bed is surrounded by linen mosquito nets.

Each bedroom has its own, en-suite bathroom with double basins, massage shower and flushing toilet. The Family Villa also has its own spacious deck made from sustainable wood where you can relax during the day or gaze up at the African night sky, ablaze with a million stars. A private swimming pool runs the width of the villa, giving you the chance to cool off during the day and night, if you wish!

Pool Suite

Feline Fields Lodge's three two-storey pool suites are built on raised platforms to make the most of the incredible views out over the Kalahari. Their raison d'etre is to create the feeling of having your own home in the African wilderness where you can relax in private and immerse yourself in your surroundings.

On the ground floor, a super king size bed draped in billowing mosquito nets forms the focal point of each suite. A beautiful fan on each ceiling, just above the bed, keeps the air cool and there is always a refreshing breeze coming through the gauze windows at night, maintaining a comfortable temperature even at the hottest time of the year. A lounge area with a 150cm daybed sofa and coffee table can be used as a further sleeping area for children. An Engelbox safari fridge with ice-cold drinks is provided in the room.

An outside staircase leads to the beautiful upper deck which offers a a place to relax and can curl up with a good book during the day, or enjoy a sleepout-style experience at night. Cooled by the Kalahari breeze beneath a thatched roof and protected by a mosquito net, you fall asleep to the sights and sounds of the African night and wake to spectacular sunrises. Private dinners can also be arranged here.

Dunes Sleepout

Spend a night under a canopy of stars.

After a beautiful dinner lit by a roaring campfire, rest for the night in mosquito net tents kitted out with real mattresses and duvets.

Spending the night in the heart of the Kalahari, falling asleep admiring the stars nested in a comfortable bed, lulled by birdsong is the ultimate in romance. It is a unique and exhilarating experience that allows you to fully connect with Nature.

In the morning, as dawn approaches, the stars gradually disappear and the birds begin to stir as the first rays of sunlight appear over the Kalahari dunes, gently waking you up and realizing where you are.

Enjoy guided trails through this unique environment and stop for a bush breakfast or lunch along the way. Most riding takes place in the early morning to avoid the heat of the day.

Meeting the Bushmen

The Lodge at Feline Fields is located in the heart of Bushmen territory, the first people of the Kalahari.

Feline Fields collaborate with the Bushmen community and offers through this a glimpse into their astonishing wisdom, spirituality and their partnership with nature which ensured survival over millennia.

Experiences range from bush walks under Bushmen guidance where they teach about veld foods and natural medicines and culture and folklore to an overnight fly-camp where you’ll be invited into their inner circle to witness, or partake in, the famous Bushman Trance Dance.

Accompanied throughout by your translator guide, guests have the opportunity to engage with the Bushmen and learn all about their survival skills, food preparation and cultural norms. Follow these ancient nomadic hunters into the pristine and untamed Kalahari Desert and gain insight into the culture and time-honored traditions of the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa.
