Nkwali

Nkwali

"first night at Nkwali"

1 night Arrived 7 Sep 2013
"This is somewhat of a blur compared to the others as I was still recvering from the overnight flight. The room i was given was a family room, so I had 4 showers to choose from for example! It had a lovely outlook over the river and was very quiet. It was fairly close to the main part but did need an escort at night The catch on the door didnt work well. It is a bit inconvenient to have to remember to put your things away from the baboons. I was only there one night so did not get to know thestaff. I liked the drums for meal times as you didnt have to keep check ing your watch."

Nsefu

"2 nights at Nsefu"

2 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2013
"The rondavels felt a little close after Nkwali, but it was fine I soon got used to it. Its nice having the rondavels in a visible line as you got to know whose "home" was where. The room was fine and I liked being able to read just outside my door with a lovely view. The bathroom was a convenient layout. Like all the camps the bedside light was only just suitable for reading at night.
The dining area was fine but meant that only 50% were looking at the view. George had a sensitive attitude to the wildlife. I had my first walk here which was exciting and having tea and cake half way is a wonderful idea although I did feel sorry for the man who carried the water!. The wildlife here did mean having to extract a frog from the lavatory!"

"THree nights here"

3 nights Arrived 10 Sep 2013
"Because I stayed 3 nights the guide told me that I could therefore take a side trip out to the salt pans. This was a great idea as I was able to find out a lot more about the countryby talking to the guide. We saw people carrying chickens on the back of their bikes and were astonished to find out that they make journeys of several days just to get to the market. They also have to face the danger of lions etc whilst doing so. It was a very friendly camp and in common with the other camps the staff are unfailingly polite and helpful. The tent was excellent with the added luxury of a fan which I neede in SEptember as it was around 37oCat lunch time. Its fun to have to be driven back to your tent at night because there are buffalos outside. I found Julius a wonderful driver guide and chef my trip to thesalt Pan which incidentally was littered with bones. Michael provided some great puddings and cake. All staff were very professional well informed and fun. The wiring of the fans needs investigation for safety."

Pioneer Camp

Pioneer Camp

"being a Pioneer!"

1 night Arrived 13 Sep 2013
"The camp was quite some way from the airport and you certainly felt like a pioneer just getting there!. It was mostly rough and dusty road, not how I imagined it, but was a fun drive. Arriving at night we happened to see 2 Duikers on the road . The camp is safe as theres a fence round it so you could walk back to the main bit at nght OK. The room was huge and there was a kettle to make tea etc."
