My Sep 2023 Zambia trip

Zambia between 2 Sep 2023 and 15 Sep 2023

Trip rating: Excellent
"The itinerary put together after our brief was spot on.

We experienced all that we wanted to and the holiday was superb.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

None, we were very happy, thank you."

Tafika

Tafika

"Tafika our favourite camp"

4 nights Arrived 2 Sep 2023
"We were met with a warm welcome from Vel who immediately made us feel at home after a very long journey.

Tafika was well run with amazing views of the Luangwa river and many Hippos. Early morning breakfasts with the sunrise in the background were a delight. Both lunch and dinner was hosted either by Jen, Nic or one of the guides.

All of the game drives gave us great sightings.Through the night there were plenty of animal visitors but we felt safe with the guards on duty.

We did a walking safari after a quick canoe trip across the river and had a fantastic Lion sighting.

The reed chalet are rustic but have all the comforts you need."

Takwela Camp

Takwela Camp

"Takwela Camp "

2 nights Arrived 6 Sep 2023
"The guiding by Moffat was excellent and we both learnt loads.

Crossing the river in the jeep was great fun especially with the hippos around. The hippos were particularly noisy during the night whilst enjoying any grass they could find in camp.

We visited the kitchen and were impressed how the meals were produced with just a fire. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

There is less game in this area but we enjoyed the remoteness.

The reed chalets like Tafika are open at the top but fantastic views of the river."

Mwaleshi Camp

Mwaleshi Camp

"Mwaleshi Camp small and remote"

2 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2023
"We walked along the river from Takwela to Mwaleshi camp with Moffat guiding our group. It took a little longer as there were plenty of elephants around but we felt very safe.

The camp seemed a little disorganised at first but that soon settled down. We took advantage to be able to walk /stand in the river at camp to cool off. We loved the fact that the reed chalets had hot water showers only on a night time and in the morning a hot water jug was put by our wash basin.

On our first night we heard a lion kill close to camp which presented us with a great sighting the next day.

All the staff were helpful and friendly. Similar reed chalets which were very clean."

Busanga Bushcamp

Busanga Bushcamp

"Busanga Bushcamp more luxurious"

2 nights Arrived 10 Sep 2023
"This was a higher end camp which was fantastic. It felt even more special as we were the only ones there.

However, there were so many staff fussing around us, it spoilt it a bit. The schedule although was meant to be relaxed at times seemed hurried.

The guiding by Willard was excellent.

The busanga plains were stunning with plenty to see with lots of antelope, lions, elephants, hippos and crocodiles.

The tents were very good on a platform with excellent internet connection."

Musekese Camp

Musekese Camp

"Musekese Camp "

3 nights Arrived 12 Sep 2023
"Both Diana and Leo were excellent hosts and an asset to the camp.

The tents were spacious and overlooked the lagoon. So you could watch wildlife all day long.

We felt the accommodation and facilities were tired. The zips on the tents were broken along with the side lamp. The bed mattresses were worn and you sank in the middle. We also struggled to get hot water. The main area was tired as well. If these small things are addressed this could be a stunning camp.

There was a good variety of activities walking, boat trips and drives. We had a presentation on the Musekese conservation which was fascinating.

The camp had a good vibe."
