"This wildlife experience is completely worth it. Meeting 'our cousins' is a magical moment.
The hike through the forest can be challenging and tough-going (your guides will often have to machete a path through the ferns and nettles), but it’s within reach for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.One should definitely hire a local porter, if only it were to support the local community.
Guides and rangers prepare you for what to expect, and you get very close to the animals (the gorillas don't respect the 7m distance...)

"It was way beyond description. The gorillas were so friendly and willing to share their life style with adults. Visited a pack of 24 gorillas including two silverbacks and one bad boy aged 12 years."

"Visited a family of 20 gorillas. Unlike the previous ones these had us chasing thru the undergrowth to keep up with them but they wanted us to find them. A silverback came within 2 feet of me and stopped to pose"

"We went twice to see the gorillas both day were totally different, the fist day we walked 30 Minutes and there they were, the guide was interesting and very very funny we had a wonderful time.
The second was more difficult we walked much longer deep in the forest it was slippery and steep, we were helped by the porters, they were very kind, when we reached the gorillas it was still speed so it was sportive.

The daily licence fee is now so high that most groups are mainly from the US.
