"This trip was clearly very well designed, to take us from the "beginner safari" of Nairobi National Park with the lights of the city in the distance to the intense life of the Kicheche camps with morning and afternoon drives. And ending with the comfort of Loldia house was perfect.

This was my first safari and I was surely spoiled by the people and the sights--I didn't really think I'd be seeing elephants walk past my bedroom window!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Not really -- this trip was a logistical feat and not one ball was dropped.

"The patio on the fourth floor is lovely. But food service there was very slow.

There was a mix up in pick up in the morning--they confused us with another party so were awakened at 5 in the morning.

Mistakes happen."

"The people at Emakoko are wonderful--relaxed, full of humor, and generous with their knowledge of the creatures (like that gorgeous python! and the bush baby that appeared at night, and the genet who crept near the lodge--such a treat!).

The rooms are fantastic and while we were there a visiting chef was trying out some new recipes so we were spoiled.

The guide was fabulous--also helpful, cheerful, indefatigable."

Since this is my first safari, starting in Nairobi National Park is perfect--enough animals to give me a sense of what was to come and yet not overwhelming.

I felt like learning the baseline here was very helpful for the more intense locations we went to next.

I am not a fan of visiting animals in captivity. And, since we had just arrived at Emakoko and it was so lovely there and so isolated from the world, it felt jarring to go back into the city and be with so many tourists.

I could see visiting the giraffe center either coming into Emakoko or when leaving but to have it break up the stay there felt a shame.

I met a young aspiring guide who took me on a bird walk through the property. That was an unexpected and fun encounter with a bright young man.

Again, I'm not a fan of more touristed animal experiences like this though I very much admire the work being done and the baby elephants are adorable.

I just didn't like having to leave the park and Emakoko at this point in the trip.

It rained. A lot! and yet the team assembled to make our stay there comfortable and fun carried on without complaint.

We sat under a tent for dinner and had one of the most meaningful conversations of the trip with our guide Dickson as he told us about his family, childhood, Maasai families, etc.

He was open and generous with his life experiences.

"It rained! A LOT! as people said: the Mara is a mess. It was.

And yet--boots in place, umbrellas at the ready, everyone carried on. It made it into an intense, beautiful, often exhausting experience.

Our guide deserves super kudos for driving us through super challenging conditions (and we'll never tell that he did get stuck one morning), all while spotting wildlife with ease. A real master."

"Much less of a safari experience after the Kicheche camps, but this was the perfect end to our trip.

We were exhausted and took advantage of the pool and massages available.

The grounds are so lush, it was wonderful to have a day "off" from driving to walk a bit, admire the birds (amazing bird life on the property! Jacana, Hammerkop, Mousbirds, and those crazy, crying Fish Eagle)."
