Africa: Reviews from our travellers

"Namibia!"
The one time a Wilderness Safari plane was late due to a pilot's illness, someone from a neighboring lodge came to inform us at the small airstrip and they took us to their comfortable lodge so we weren't overheating at the airstrip.
The lodge choices, the length of time, the one night in Windhoek at the Olive, all were great choices and made the trip one that we will never forget.

"Fantastic trip"
We also felt our experience with Expert Africa was very positive as well.
One point I'd like to mention - when we arrived at Lilayi Lodge we were told that lunch was not included in what we had already paid, which I had not realized. We arrived at 3 pm on Dec 22, so we had not expected it to be included that day but we thought it would be on Dec 23, when we spent the whole day at the lodge. This is probably confusion on my part, as the documents we were sent stated "half board" and Lilayi staff explained that half board to them meant dinner/breakfast.
However we were not familiar with this term so I had assumed it meant all meals, just no activities. It is not a big deal as we simply paid for lunch that day, however I'd like to suggest that this be clearly stated on documents for other guests who stay there ie. that it is only dinner and breakfast - to avoid others experiencing the same confusion." Expert Africa made planning the trip a breeze and everything they arranged for us in Tanzania was wonderful." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 11 on a Tanzania safari
"Incredible holiday in every sense"
part from the luggage fiasco, we were looked after incredibly well every step of the journey. We were never left wondering what/where/when as the organising was seamless. Each of the accommodations and game drive locations had something different to offer than the previous which kept it exhilarating the whole time. Finishing off with 5 nights on Zanzibar gave a perfect finish with some R&R in a stunning location with perfect weather.
Certainly a holiday to remember and some memories that we will all cherish. Unfortunately the boys now have a taste for such extravagance !!" Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 6 on a Tanzania safari
"My Dec 2016 trip"
"Our trip to Namibia December 2016"
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the accommodation especially Kulala Desert Lodge and Doro Nawas Camp. On our first day at Kulala, we took a sundowner tour from the lodge and were also lucky to see the full moon over the dunes. On our second day, we took an early morning guided drive to Sossusvlei. The guide was excellent. He found a shovel-snouted lizard and a white lady spider for us. At Doro Nawas, we also had an excellent guide. We saw about 25 desert-adapted elephants; at night, the same guide showed us scorpions.
We also liked Swakopmund and the Sandfields Guesthouse. The two-hour flight from Swakopmund was a unique way to see the dunes, the desert, the flamingoes, the seals and the skeleton coast. We also enjoyed kayaking with the seals.
There was a bit of a glitch on our day tour to Sandwich Harbour. There were two vehicles on the tour, and our family had a junior guide who was a good driver but was not knowledgeable and could not provide us with any information. However, this problem was later resolved by talking to Bruno, who offered us a free three-hour tour the next day to a magnificent area located about 10 km from Swakopmund. Bruno also included sandboarding as part of the tour. His tour was definitely one of the many highlights of our stay in Swakopmund.
We found Etosha National Park to be a very special place. It was raining before we arrived in Etosha, and as a result the animals found different sources of water and were not attracted to the waterholes. We sometimes had to drive for a few hours before spotting animals. We did, however, see many animals in the end, including three lionesses, a sleeping lion, a black rhino and a group of about 15 hyenas. As far as accommodation goes, we liked Mushara Bush Camp better than Andersson's Camp.
Franz Indongo Lodge was also a fine place to stay and well located to visit the CCF. The cheetahs were quite active when we visited, and both the tour and the museum were very informative.
In conclusion, our trip was a great success. Although we drove a lot, we found the roads well maintained and the car very comfortable. We would like to thank you for organizing this trip for us. We are already thinking about other destinations in Africa and we will be in touch.

If Planet Earth II has not convinced you to visit then you should go anyway as it has much more to offer than what was shown in the short time that the BBC allotted to the Namib desert.

"Excellent support"
We were disappointed with Malawi for the reasons mentioned and also for the costs associated with Lilongwe airport. The actual internal flight departure tax is $7 per person and the external departure tax is $35 per person. Visa charge is $75 per person.
Considering the country is regarded as 'poor' and want to encourage tourism the Tourism Board should consider requesting the Government to reduce the fees involved. Suppose the UK equivalent is Air Passenger Duty (APD) which is £13 per person for flights of less than 2000 miles." Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 7 on a Kenya safari
