"My trip had been skillfully designed for me, I felt. And was quite excellent."

Erongo Wilderness Lodge

Erongo Wilderness Lodge

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 25 Oct 2015
"My first stay of this trip. Set in a bouldery world, I had chosen it for its opportunities to walk, which it provided, rather than animals. Although I did see Klipspringer and wild cat here, and in the event not again.

The guiding was good.

The lodge comfortable and relaxed."

Okonjima Plains Camp

Okonjima Plains Camp

"Okonjima Plains Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 27 Oct 2015
"A well-run, ethical Camp where the opportunities of seeing cheetah and leopard (etc.) is near-guaranteed, given that the rescued ones have emitting collars.

Overall, an excellent experience."

Okaukuejo Camp

Okaukuejo Camp

"Okaukuejo Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 29 Oct 2015
"It is sad that the Namibian national camps do not match the privately run ones in service and quality. Particularly true of the rather large Okaukuejo Camp.

However it is still worth staying there for the volumes of game it attracts to its lit water hole.

As many have remarked, a theatrical event in itself. On one occasion I saw 9 rhino enjoying the waters."

Anderssons Camp, Namibia (this camp has since closed)

"Anderssons Camp review"

1 night Arrived 31 Oct 2015
"By the high standards of Wilderness Safari lodges, Anderssons Camp wasn't quite there. For me, the quality was good but a notch down.

On the game drive I had, we got up close to lion and rhinos (great in its way) - but too close. The animals were clearly disturbed. The guiding lacked sensitivity and was too-focused on achieving two photo ops. (I realise this is a guiding dilemma.)"

Dolomite Camp

Dolomite Camp

"Dolomite Camp review"

1 night Arrived 1 Nov 2015
"A classier camp than Okaukuejo for quality and service, almost achieving privately-owned standards.

Its hill-top location, gives great views over the plains on either sides, but requires dexterous buggy driving to get luggage to the spread-out tents. A slightly bizarre arrangement from a practical point of view, not ideal for anyone whose ability to walk is compromised. To be fair I was only there one night."

Desert Rhino Camp

Desert Rhino Camp

"Desert Rhino Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 2 Nov 2015
"All you would expect of a Wilderness Safari Camp. Our tracking of rhino was successful, as it seems it usually is.

As I was on my own, its policy of all guests sitting down together for dinner was especially attractive. But had I been with my wife I'm sure we'd have counted that a plus. All-in-all excellent service."

Doro Nawas

Doro Nawas

"Doro Nawas review"

2 nights Arrived 4 Nov 2015
"Despite the bizarre main-building architecture, the individual chalets were attractive, appropriate and generous.

The elephant spotting is pretty sure it seems, and rewarding. In quality and service, although a whisker down on its sister Desert Rhino Camp, still excellent.

What was amazing was the change in scenery that took place about 15 kms before Noro Nawas, coming from DRC."

Coast and Sandwich Harbour

Coast and Sandwich Harbour

"A Brilliant Day"

7 Nov 2015 • All-day excursion

The long 4x4 drive over the dunes was exhilarating, and rewarded by skirting the sea to achieve the picturesque Sandwich Bay. What really made the day extra-special was the quality of our one-handed guide, who had once lived in this remote spot with his family.

His deep knowledge, expert driving and remarkable English made for a memorable day.

Spend as much time as you can, absorbing the tranquility of the bay.

Sossus Dune Lodge

Sossus Dune Lodge

"Sossus Dune Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 8 Nov 2015
"Definitely stay within the park, if you want to catch sunrise. The shuttle 4x4 service, annoyingly, was late starting on my first day.

Quality and service close to privately-owned lodges. Comfortable, generous chalets.

While the dunes are the thing, Sesriem Canyon at the Lodge's entrance is not to be overlooked."

BullsPort Lodge and Farm

BullsPort Lodge and Farm

"Bullsport Guest Farm review"

2 nights Arrived 10 Nov 2015
"I appreciated the difference in being a guest at a farm, where you ate with the family, as opposed to having a lodge at one's disposal. I enjoyed the change, and the chance to take walks.

Interesting, too, to learn about the difficulties of farming in such a harsh landscape. Added an element of variety to my stays."

"Eningu Clayhouse review"

1 night Arrived 12 Nov 2015
"This was where I stayed my last night, and it was excellent for that. A one hour drive from the airport, which now has petrol at its entrance. The sociable Swiss lady, Bettina, makes one very welcome. Good for relaxing."
