Topi Fly-in Safari

Explore Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park from two luxurious, colonially styled camps. Chosen for their access to good game viewing and thrilling remoteness, these camps also offer a range of varied safari activities.

Topi Fly-in Safari: Summary

Topi safari in a nutshell

This fly-in safari explores southern Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park in considerable luxury. Guests will stay respectively at sister camps, Siwandu and Jongomero, both of which boast a traditional, somewhat colonial style and the expected matching elegance. Polished wooden floors lead to plush communal areas, where there are swimming pools to relax in and private dining is the norm.

Beginning at Siwandu, guests will find themselves nestled amidst the mixed woodland of Lake Nzerakera’s shores. This camp is located at the centre of the lush reserve where wildlife sightings are particularly good and activities are varied. Guests can return from boat safaris, bush walks, fishing trips and drives to sit and observe wildlife from the raised decking with spectacular views over the lake.

Jongomero matches Siwandu in comfortable luxury yet holds a remoter position within Ruaha. Far removed from other camps, guests will experience a real sense of wilderness, staying in one of eight tented rooms spread along Jongomero River. To further enhance the immersive bush experience, guests may add fly-camping to the variety of activities available and sleep out under Ruaha’s expansive star-studded skies.

Both camps offer top-quality guiding, where guests will benefit from knowledgeable instruction on the local flora and fauna. Combine the considerable comfort with thrilling game, remote locations and seasonal combination discounts and this makes for a safari sure to impress.

Siwandu

Days 1-4

High-class and luxurious, Siwandu (formerly known as Selous Safari Camp) is set amid miombo woodland on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, in the central part of Selous Game Reserve’s prime wildlife viewing area. Lake Nzerakera is located a few miles north of the Rufiji River, connected to the main river by the network of waterways that laces through this part of southern Tanzania. Siwandu is an expansive camp, occupying a long stretch of lake frontage. Divided in two, each section of the camp its own public area with swimming pool, lounge and dining room.

Jongomero Camp

Days 4-8

Stylish and with a slightly colonial edge, Jongomero Camp is similar to its sister camp Siwandu. It has smooth and seamless service and plenty of luxury, but despite this, Jongomero has retained a real sense of wilderness. Located in the far south of Ruaha National Park, Jongomero is a long way from any other camp. This part of Ruaha is both quiet and spectacular − it's a real wilderness experience. It is extremely unlikely that you will come across any other vehicles while on safari around Jongomero.
