Hadeda Ibis Guided Safari

This great-value safari, led by your own naturalist guide, journeys through the stunning landscapes of Northern Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley in a private 4WD, focusing on its three top national parks.

Hadeda Ibis Guided Safari: Summary

Hadeda Ibis safari in a nutshell

Arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport you’ll meet your naturalist guide and private 4WD vehicle. Set off through the busy town of Arusha and perhaps pause for a drink, or to explore a curio market, if you wish. As with the rest of this trip, you decide on the pace and where you stop with your guide.

A few hours’ drive, you’ll reach Tarangire Safari Lodge. Safari from here and it’s your choice: leave the lodge’s simple surrounds for a whole-day safari, or return between drives for lunch and a swim in the pool. Either way, expect great wildlife sightings around the river.

Continuing from Tarangire, climb over spectacular Rift Valley escarpment into the Ngorongoro Highlands. Beyond the bustling town of Karatu, you’ll find the comfortable Farmhouse Lodge. The beans for morning coffee here are grown on a local farm and there are spectacular views across forested slopes of the extinct Oldeani Volcano.

Your naturalist guide will swiftly tune into your likes, helping you to get the most from a whole-day exploration of the Ngorongoro Crater: Africa’s most famous game park. Big tuskers, black rhino and plenty of predators are frequent highlights here.

Leaving the highlands, you’ll descend onto the vast Serengeti Plains, to Kati Kati Camp, a small tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti National Park’s wildlife-rich Seronera area. This rugged little safari camp has all the basics – good food, comfy beds and hot showers – and its no-frills approach lends real authenticity to the feeling of sleeping out under canvas.

With Kate Kati as your base, you’ve two full days to explore the Serengeti’s landscapes, rich wildlife and great migration in season, before flying directly out of the Serengeti, over the Great Rift Valley and back to Arusha.

Tarangire Safari Lodge

Days 1-3

Tarangire Safari Lodge is a substantial family owned and managed lodge situated 10km inside the main gate of Tarangire National Park. It was originally built in 1970 making it the oldest lodge in the park, and its position on the escarpment ridge gives it impressive views over the baobab and acacia woodlands down to the Tarangire River – but also places it in the heart of the park's busiest area.

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge

Days 3-5

The Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge is a lovely lodge just outside of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Set in 750 acres of private farmland, it is comfortable, well laid out and has some lovely views across the farm and across to Oldeani Volcano. The Farmhouse Lodge opened in 2003, and since then has been offering good value accommodation and is a good base for visiting both the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park.

Kati Kati Camp

Days 5-8

Kati Kati Camp is a simple tented camp located in the central Serengeti in Tanzania, near to Seronera. This area of the Serengeti has reliably good game viewing throughout the year, and is a great place to look for cheetah on the vast open plains.
