Hadeda Ibis Guided Safari

This great-value safari, in a private 4WD with your own driver-guide, journeys through the stunning landscapes of northern Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley, focusing on its three top national parks.

Hadeda Ibis Guided Safari: Summary

Hadeda Ibis safari in a nutshell

Your safari guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro airport with a private 4WD vehicle, ready to set off through the busy town of Arusha. Perhaps pause here for a drink, or to explore a curio market if you wish: you will be travelling with your own private guide and 4WD on this safari, so you have the freedom to decide on the pace and where you stop.

Your first night will be spent at Tarangire Safari Lodge. How you explore from here is your choice: leave the lodge’s simple surroundings for a whole-day safari, or return between drives for lunch and a swim in the pool. Either way, expect great wildlife sightings around the river.

Continuing from Tarangire, climb over the spectacular Rift Valley escarpment into the Ngorongoro Highlands where, beyond the bustling town of Karatu, you’ll find the comfortable Farmhouse Lodge. The beans for morning coffee here are grown on a local farm and there are superb views across forested slopes of the extinct Oldeani Volcano.

Your guide will swiftly tune into your likes, helping you to get the most from a whole-day exploration of the Ngorongoro Crater, arguably Africa’s most famous game park. Big tuskers, black rhino and plenty of predators are frequent highlights here.

Leaving the highlands, you’ll descend onto the vast Serengeti Plains to the small, tented Kati Kati Camp in the heart of the Serengeti National Park’s wildlife-rich Seronera area. This rugged little safari camp has all the basics – good food, comfy beds and hot showers – and its no-frills approach lends real authenticity to sleeping under canvas.

With Kati Kati as your base, you have two full days to explore the Serengeti’s landscapes, rich wildlife and great migration in season, before flying directly out of the Serengeti, over the Great Rift Valley and back to Arusha.

Tarangire Safari Lodge

Days 1-3

Tarangire Safari Lodge is a substantial family-owned and managed lodge set 10km inside the main gate of Tarangire National Park. Originally built in 1970, it is the oldest lodge in the park, and its position on the escarpment ridge gives it impressive views over the baobab and acacia woodlands down to the Tarangire River; it also places it in the heart of the park's busiest area.

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge

Days 3-5

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge is a lovely lodge just outside of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Set in 750 acres of private farmland, it is comfortable, well laid out and has some excellent views over the farm and across to Oldeani Volcano. The lodge has continued to offer good-value accommodation since it opened in 2003, and is a good base for visiting both the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park.

Kati Kati Camp

Days 5-8

Kati Kati Camp is a simple tented camp in the Tanzania's central Serengeti, near to Seronera. This area of the Serengeti has reliably good game viewing throughout the year, and is a great place to look for cheetah on the vast open plains.
