Oribi Safari: Summary
Oribi Safari in a nutshell
This remote safari features four camps spread across Zambia’s South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks. Each camp is small, offering a highly personalised and intimate experience. Their knowledgeable teams share remarkable insight of the surrounding environments, and their collective experience allows for fascinating encounters, especially during superbly guided walking safaris.
Based on the banks of Luangwa River, Tafika is one of the more northerly of South Luangwa’s camps. The area sees fewer visitors than elsewhere, and allows for flexibility in activities: opt for day and night game drives; walking safaris; a visit to a local community school; a mountain bike safari or an afternoon spent in the custom-built hides watching animals up close.
Situated in a similarly undisturbed portion of the park, Mapazi camp is equally small, rustic and well-suited for the phenomenal walking safaris it focuses on. All activities are led by Deb Tittle, a renowned guide with over 20 year’s experience.
In Lower Zambezi, Kutali and Chula Island camps both occupy waterfront locations on islands in the Zambezi River. Being small, mobile fly-camps their design is in keeping with the authenticity experienced in South Luangwa, and their standard of guiding remains impressively high. Here, canoeing, fishing and boat cruises compliment the day and night game drives and walking safaris.
