Oribi Safari

This is a great safari for those looking to immerse themselves in true wilderness, with few additional frills yet considerable authentic comfort. The standard of guiding is consistently impressive and the walking safaris throughout are a real highlight.

Oribi Safari: Summary

Oribi Safari in a nutshell

This remote safari features four camps spread across Zambia’s South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks. Each camp is small, offering a highly personalised and intimate experience. Their knowledgeable teams share remarkable insight of the surrounding environments, and their collective experience allows for fascinating encounters, especially during superbly guided walking safaris.

Based on the banks of Luangwa River, Tafika is one of the more northerly of South Luangwa’s camps. The area sees fewer visitors than elsewhere, and allows for flexibility in activities: opt for day and night game drives; walking safaris; a visit to a local community school; a mountain bike safari or an afternoon spent in the custom-built hides watching animals up close.

Situated in a similarly undisturbed portion of the park, Mapazi camp is equally small, rustic and well-suited for the phenomenal walking safaris it focuses on. All activities are led by Deb Tittle, a renowned guide with over 20 year’s experience.

In Lower Zambezi, Kutali and Chula Island camps both occupy waterfront locations on islands in the Zambezi River. Being small, mobile fly-camps their design is in keeping with the authenticity experienced in South Luangwa, and their standard of guiding remains impressively high. Here, canoeing, fishing and boat cruises compliment the day and night game drives and walking safaris.

Tafika

Days 1-4

Home to the Coppinger family, Tafika is a small and outwardly rustic camp on the banks of the Luangwa River. Its location, on the northern side of the beautiful Nsefu Sector within in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park, makes Tafika – along with its two satellite bushcamps on the other side of the river – the most northerly of South Luangwa's safari camps. This allows most activities to be carried out in quiet areas of the park, where you’ll invariably have wildlife sightings to yourself

Mapazi Camp

Days 4-7

Mapazi Camp is a new walking only camp located in the far north of Zambia's South Luangwa National Park - one of the most renowned areas in Africa for walking safaris. All activities at Mapazi are privately guided by Deb Tittle, a renowned safari guide with over 20 years guiding experience in the South Luangwa. *** Sadly Mapazi Camp is now closed, please speak to a member of our team for advice on alternative options. ***

Chula Island Camp

Days 9-11

Chula Island Camp, formerly known as Buffalo Island Camp, opened in July 2018.
