Tsessebe safari

Visit three sister-camps in and around Moremi Game Reserve during this thorough exploration of the Okavango Delta. A range of activities provide excellent opportunity to observe the local birdlife, mammals and fauna.

Tsessebe safari: Summary

Tsessebe safari in a nutshell

This safari offers a thorough exploration of Botswana’s lusciously aquatic Okavango Delta, with stays in three sister-camps spread throughout and around Moremi Game Reserve.

Run by the same supplier, Okuti, Kanana and Shinde all profit from the same high quality and standard of management, boasting enviable views over their respective waterways and lagoons.

Beginning at Okuti, the camp is located within a prime game-viewing destination overlooking Xakanaxa lagoon. Wildlife here is prolific and subsequently the sightings can be spectacular.

Kanana camp then overlooks a permanent water channel and provides a somewhat more exclusive experience where, whilst the game is less dense, the area is also lesser visited and so feels wonderfully remote. Being situated near a heronry, Kanana offers quick access to a phenomenal magnitude and diversity of birdlife, especially between July and October.

Retaining an air of traditional authenticity, Shinde is then situated beside a deep water lagoon. From here, guests might enjoying seasonal fishing, mokoro and boating excursions and even the potential to explore the region by foot.

Through this combination of camps, guests can enjoy a variety of activities that are both water and land based, seeking out the local flora and fauna through mokoro excurisons, boating trips and day and night 4WD game drives.

Okuti

Days 1-3

Okuti Camp lies beside Xakanaxa Lagoon, in a prime area for wildlife in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve. Although it’s on a relatively small site, close to neighbouring Xakanaxa Camp and a public campsite, Okuti has a very private feel from inside the camp. It has a smart and highly innovative design, very different from the more traditional camps found across the Delta.

Kanana

Days 3-5

Situated in the heart of Botswana's Okavango Delta, adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve, Kanana Camp nestles among towering jackalberry (ebony) trees, knobthorn acacias and sausage trees on the edge of a permanent stretch of channel. Kanana's environment is a mix of forests and open seasonal floodplains, combined with permanent channels and lush flood meadows – and it's this mix which leads to it being able to offer a very full range of activities.

Shinde Camp

Days 5-8

STOP PRESS Shinde is undergoing a complete rebuild from 6th January and will reopen on the 1 June 2020 in its new guise. We understand that it will retaining an authentic classic safari style yet provide luxury with a touch of historical charm. It will have eight guest tents, including one family unit sleeping a maximum of 5 people. Watch this space (or give us a call) for further updates. Shinde, meaning "tree squirrel" in Setswana, is situated on the edge of an area of deep water and lagoons in the heart of the Okavango Delta. It's a well-established camp in a private reserve just to the north of the Moremi Game Reserve. Its wide open floodplains sit alongside some very pretty waterways, allowing for a mixture of both land and water activities.
