Wildcat Safari

A short, high-quality safari staying at two lavish camps with excellent hospitality and guiding standards. The journey takes you from the wildlife-rich, lush Okavango Delta to dry open plains split by the meandering Selinda Spillway.

Wildcat Safari: Summary

Wildcat Safari in a nutshell

A four-night safari exploring environments made famous by wildlife photographers and filmmakers Derek and Beverly Joubert.

As part owners of Duba Plains Camp and Selinda Camp, Derek and Beverly’s input can be found in the attention to detail within the design, the wow factor, and the images displayed throughout. Each property takes Botswana’s classic safari tented camp style to a lavish new level. The palatial rooms have their own plunge pool, an environmentally friendly air-conditioning system over the bed and a digital Canon camera, lenses and Swarovski binoculars for guests use! These camps stand out for their high standards of hospitality and guiding.

A safari to Duba Plains and Selinda Camp takes you from a lush, green Okavango Delta landscape to dry open plains, dotted by date palms and split by the meandering Selinda Spillway. Both locations are known for excellent wildlife viewing, and as they are private reserves you will have time to watch memorable animal encounters unfolding with few others around. Day and night game drives can be interspersed by boat trips when water levels allow.

Duba Plains Camp

Days 1-3

Duba Plains Camp is a well-known tented safari camp situated in a pretty part of the northern Okavango Delta, and has long been one of our favourites. In 2016 this iconic camp closed and was completely rebuilt from the ground up. Reopened in April 2017, it is now even more luxurious.

Selinda Camp

Days 3-5

The high-quality Selinda Camp has a beautiful location within the 1,300km² Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana. There’s long been a camp here with a focus on big game safaris. Rebuilt and upgraded in 2019, the latest version of Selinda offers luxury accommodation and a high standard of service, from the camp beautifully built on the banks of the Selinda Spillway.

Side-trips whilst on this safari

We may be able to build in some of these optional excursions from the Wildcat Safari. Talk to us: they’re usually best arranged when you book.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
