African Hawk-Eagle Fly-in Safari

Two luxurious camps provide relatively quiet game-viewing within Laikipia and the Mara ecosystem. Situated on private conservancies, both Lewa Wilderness and Naboisho offer the chance to sight all of the "Big 5" and to enjoy a range of safari activities.

African Hawk-Eagle Fly-in Safari: Summary

African Hawk-Eagle Safari in a nutshell

This fantastic fly-in safari incorporates two of Kenya’s top wildlife regions, Laikipia and the Maasai Mara ecosystem. Suited to those hoping to enjoy a degree of exclusivity, both camps are located within private conservancies and so offer a quieter safari experience, away from the crowds.

Beginning on the high plains of Laikipia’s Lewa Conservancy, Lewa Wilderness sits atop a steep hill with stunning views over the Western Marania Valley. Throughout the conservancy guests will find a protected population of both black and white rhino, as well as good numbers of the beautiful Grevy’s zebra.

From here, a stay at Naboisho will likely lead to good cat sightings, ideal for those hoping to sight the "Big 5". And depending on the time of year, guests might opt to spend a day in the Maasai Mara National Reserve with the aim of catching the great migration.

With a broader range of activities than the national parks, the conservancies offer guests the opportunity to stretch their legs with bush walks, keep watch for nocturnal predators during night drives or add further variety still with horse riding, visits to local villages and forests, and fly-camping. By staying at either camp, guests also contribute directly to the conservation of the surrounding area, helping both wildlife and local communities to prosper.

Lewa Wilderness

Days 1-4

Lewa Wilderness (previously known as Lewa Wilderness Trails or Wilderness Trails Lodge) is set on a steep valley side looking out over the Western Marania Valley and a spring below. Started as a tented camp by the Craig family 30 years ago, it is now a comfortable, nine-room lodge offering access to the great game of the Lewa Conservancy.

Naboisho Camp

Days 4-8

Appealing both to safari purists and those seeking a little luxury, Naboisho Camp is one of the most upmarket of the handful of small, unfenced camps in the relatively little-visited Mara Naboisho Conservancy, just north of Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve. Surrounded by untouched savannah and dense thicket, it is located in a game-rich area where guests frequently witness spectacular wildlife events.
